The U.S. Department of State announces a funding opportunity for “Enabling Forest Investment Development Facility (ForInvest).” The overall goal is to facilitate investment in natural climate solutions in developing countries, especially in high-deforestation areas, by developing investment pipelines and connecting those opportunities with potential investors. The project should encompass all three of the key geographies to Conserve Global Forests: the Amazon basin, Congo Basin, and Southeast Asia. A total of US$5.1 million will be made available. The Belmont Forum welcomes transdisciplinary proposals to its collaborative research actions on systems of sustainable consumption and production (SSCP). Proposals to the Belmont Forum must address one of the following four themes: Transdisciplinary Research to help transition to Green Economies; Sustainable and Resilient industries; Social Inequality and Environmental Justice; New Technologies, Policies, and Practices. Feed the Future Market Systems and Partnerships — Southern Africa Agricultural Trade & Investment Activity
Market Systems and Partnerships (MSP) invites for-profit businesses in Southern Africa to submit applications. Partnerships will leverage South Africa’s advanced economy and financial system to support mutually beneficial agricultural trade and investment in the southern African region, or increase exports to the United States. MSP will issue grants ranging between US$250 thousand to US$1 million to establish partnerships with firms and/or investors. Businesses legally registered to operate in Angola, Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, or Zambia are eligible to apply. Legacy Landscapes Fund — Conservation of Terrestrial Landscapes and Buffer Zones
Legacy Landscapes Fund announces its first open call for proposals. Legacy Landscapes Fund (LLF) is a grant-making institution focused on the world’s most important protected areas and their buffer zones. “Legacy Landscapes” (LL) are terrestrial landscapes covering a contiguous area of at least 200 thousand hectares (2000 km²) that are ecologically largely intact and of global significance. LLF’s Sustaining Grant program supports the LL with a $15 million grant in tranches of $1 million per year over 15 years. For its Sustaining Grants, LLF requires a minimum co-financing of $5 million. The Asian Development Bank (ADB) supports research proposals from early-career economists to conduct microeconomic development research in the Pacific. This call for proposals is limited to economists whose research focus is on the microeconomics of development, who are experienced in using micro-econometric methods, and who are experienced in using microdata. The AGCO Agriculture Foundation (AAF) provides resources to implement projects that promote sustainable climate solutions for farmers and the agricultural sector which benefits economies while also strengthening community development. Climate smart agricultural projects should work towards improving farmer productivity, and as a result, livelihoods, making farms more resilient to climate impacts. The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) seeks to sustainably commercialize non-timber forest products in order to increase alternative income sources, improve natural resource management practices in Zimbabwe. The overall aim of this activity is to improve the resilience of vulnerable and marginalized communities (particularly women and youth).
