The Letten Prize is an international prize for young researchers (under the age of 45) that conduct research aimed at addressing global challenges within the fields of health, development, environment and equality in all aspects of human life. The winner is awarded 2,5 million NOK (ca. US$235 thousand) to be used for research activities. The prize is open to researchers from all around the world. In partnership with the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB), TWAS invites early-career researchers from 21 Least Developed Member Countries to apply to the IsDB-TWAS Postdoctoral Fellowship Program. The fellowship will support research related to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, providing recipients with high-level training in areas relevant to sustainability science. The Penn Development Research Initiative (DevLab at the University of Pennsylvania) seeks to build capacity for rigorous research on pressing policy challenges facing low- and middle-income countries, by providing training and research opportunities for emerging researchers. The university invites researchers from Sub-Saharan Africa to apply for a semester-long fellowship for the 2023 Fall semester (September – December 2023). Visiting fellows will have the opportunity to audit doctoral-level classes, carry out independent research and present their research. The African Graduate Fellowship offers African students with limited financial means the opportunity to pursue a master degree at the American University in Cairo (AUC). Nationals of African countries (excluding Egypt) can apply for full-time study in any graduate program offered at the AUC, including the Master of Science programs in Biotechnology, Environmental Engineering, and others. The Women’s World Summit Foundation (WWSF) invites nominations for its annual Prize for Women’s Creativity in Rural Life. The prize honors women’s groups for exceptional creativity, courage, and commitment to improve the quality of life in rural communities. Each year, between 5-10 winners receive a cash prize of US$1,000. Nominations include biographical data about the nominee; at least two endorsement letters; and labeled photos. The BBSRC Partnering Awards aim to set up partnership links between UK and overseas laboratories, promote the exchange of scientists, particularly early career scientists, and to promote access to facilities. Funding of up to £30 thousand is available for a period of up to four years for partnerships with bioscience laboratories in countries not currently eligible through existing partnering award schemes. International partnerships focusing on the net zero carbon emissions target, through a sustainable, resilient and bio-diverse agri-food system are especially welcome. The Earth Journalism Network (EJN) offers grants to media organizations to support capacity-building activities for media and journalists related to understanding and preventing zoonotic viral spillover. EJN is particularly interested in projects that help journalists use data and the latest scientific research in their reporting. Applications are open to traditional news media, broadcast media, development media, new media and independent media outlets from the following countries: Liberia, Sierra Leone, Côte d’Ivoire, Bangladesh, Cambodia and Vietnam. The Wellcome Trust supports bold and creative discovery research that has the potential to improve human life, health and wellbeing. The Early-Career Awards provide funding for early-career researchers from any discipline who are ready to develop their research identity through innovative projects. Research can be in any discipline, including STEM, experimental medicine, or climate – as long as it has the potential to improve human life. The Trust covers the researcher’s salary and up to £400 thousand for research expenses. The applicant’s host organization has to be based in the UK, Republic of Ireland, a low- or middle-income country (apart from India and mainland China).
