European Commission — Civil Society Development in Eritrea

The European Commission (EC) aims to promote capacity development of local civil society in Eritrea. The action aims to contribute to an inclusive and independent civil society which engages in decision making in the areas of economic development, women’s rights, and sustainable development (agriculture, environment). Applicants may request between €300 thousand to €700 thousand in project funding. Eligibility extends to non-profit organizations established in the European Union or Eritrea. In India, EU investments focus primarily on clean energy, water, biodiversity and sustainable agriculture. Applicants may request up to €3 million in project funding. Beyond the Grid Fund for Africa — Off-Grid Energy

Beyond the Grid Fund for Africa (BGFA) aims to stimulate new sustainable business models which incentivize and accelerate the private sector to offer affordable and clean off-grid energy access to underserved areas of Uganda. The BGFA invites off-grid energy companies to submit proposals for clean and affordable energy solutions in peri-urban and rural areas. The individual contract size is expected to be between €2 and €3 million. The application process is divided into two stages: (1) Pre-Qualification and (2) Final Application. U.S. Department of State — Community Solutions Program

The Community Solutions Program (CSP) a global initiative that supports community leaders (ages 26-39) working to address economic, environmental, political, and social challenges confronting their local communities. CSP invites proposals from public and private non-profit organizations worldwide to conduct this international leadership program. The total award made available under this program is US$2.5 million. U. S. Department of Agriculture — Food for Progress Program

The Food for Progress Program provides for the donation of U.S. agricultural commodities to developing countries committed to expanding free enterprise in the agricultural sector. The objective is to improve agricultural productivity and to expand trade of agricultural products. The Program has prioritized the following areas: the Cacao sector, the Coffee sector, the Spices sector, Sanitary and Phytosanitary Standards, the Trade Facilitation Agreement, and Climate Smart Agriculture. The estimated funding per award is US$20-US$39 million. The following entities are eligible to apply: governments of emerging agricultural countries, nonprofit organizations, universities, and any other private entity. EIT Climate-KIC — Green Business Idea Competition

ClimateLaunchpad is the world’s largest green business ideas competition. The competition invites business ideas that address climate change with the goal to support new clean-tech startups. Selected participants will take part in an idea bootcamp and receive intensive coaching. The winner will receive €10 thousand, the runner up €5 thousand. EUROPARC Federation — Study Visits at Protected Areas in Europe and Eurasia

The EUROPARC Federation partners with the Alfred Toepfer Stiftung to promote international cooperation within the European dimension of protected area management. Grants of €3 thousand allow young conservationists to make study visits to one or more protected areas external to their home countries. The study visits should correspond to any of the five themes identified in the announcement. In addition to western Europe, participating countries include Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Georgia, Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Russia, Serbia, Turkey, and Ukraine. Association of Commonwealth Universities — Higher Education and SDGs Grants

The Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU) accepts applications for the Higher Education and the SDGs Challenge Grants to fund collaborative work around the sustainable development goals (SDGs). The grants are open to professional and academic staff at ACU member universities. Four grants of £2,500 are available. Applicants are encouraged to collaborate with member universities to promote further Commonwealth partnerships, or other organizations such as local governments. The closing date is 02 May 2023. African Business Heroes — Business Heroes Competition 2023

African Business Heroes aims to support the next generation of African entrepreneurs who are making a difference in their local communities by working to solve the most pressing problems. Applications are open in English and French to entrepreneurs from all African countries, all sectors, and all ages. Ten finalists will compete for a share of US$1.5 million in grant money. All Finalists win grant funds from US$100-300 thousand. The applicant must be the Founder or a Co-Founder of the company. Applications close on 12 May 2023. African Business Heroes
