The American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) and the World Academy of Sciences (TWAS) seek candidates to participate in the training workshop on science diplomacy in Trieste (Italy, July/August 2022). The workshop is designed for young scientists (below the age of 40) living, policymakers and diplomats, research institution administrators and research funders, and representatives from NGOs working at the science-diplomacy interface. The Earth Journalism Network (EJN) invites journalists from Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, and Rwanda to apply for a five-day wildlife and conservation workshop in Uganda. Participants will gain a deeper understanding of conservation efforts in the region and learn how researchers, Indigenous groups, and local communities are protecting their ecosystems. Journalists interested in covering human-wildlife conflicts, poaching, trafficking and other wildlife crimes are invited to apply. The Land Accelerator trains and supports entrepreneurs that restore degraded forests and farmland. The program offers an all-virtual business creation and growth accelerator in South Asia. The accelerator is designed for companies that are in the testing phase of taking their product to market. Any business model that is recognized as restoring land is eligible, including, but not limited to smart agriculture, water conservation, agroforestry, tree planting, and beekeeping, forest conservation. The Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative (YSEALI) is a program of the U.S. government to support bright young leaders from ASEAN countries. The YSEALI Summit 2022 is an assembly of Southeast Asian youths to bring forth science, solutions, and solidarity for a livable future. The Summit “Empowering Technology for a Greener Future” invites YSEALI alumni to join online pre-Summit activities, 3-day workshops, and post-Summit engagements. Five teams will win US$2 thousand each in seed funds. Applicants must be between 18-35 years and citizens of Brunei, Burma, Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Laos, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam, or Timor-Leste.
