The Researcher Links Workshops bring together early-career researchers from the UK and Russia to allow them to make international connections that can improve the quality of their research. The current call is for bilateral workshops of 3-4 days. The maximum funding per workshop in the UK/Russia is £51,940. Proposals must be joint applications by non-profit organizations, with one coordinator based at a UK institution and one based in Russia. The application deadline is 12 June 2020. Swedish International Development Agency — Training Course: Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation in Sub-Saharan Africa
Sida funds short-term training in selected development topics for participants from developing countries. The program has a strong focus on agriculture and water resources, planning and communication of climate information. Organizations in Kenya, Sudan, Mozambique, Zambia and Zimbabwe are invited to nominate candidates for the Advanced International Training Programme “Climate change – Mitigation and Adaptation.” Sida will cover the costs of the program fee and required literature as well as accommodation, meals, health insurance, and international travel. Scientific Committee on Oceanic Research — Travel Support to Attend Meetings and Conferences
The Scientific Committee on Oceanic Research (SCOR) provides travel support for scientists from low- to medium-income countries to attend ocean science meetings. The purpose of this support is to help scientists, particularly early-career scientists, to network with colleagues from other countries, share their research, and form partnerships in the global ocean science community. One Young World — Entrepreneur of the Year Award
The One Young World Summit seeks startups and entrepreneurs with solutions to the world’s most pressing issues, including climate change and the challenges of globalization. Applicants can be of any nationality but must be between 18-35 years old. Five winners will receive a fully funded trip to participate in the One Young World Summit in Munich (Germany) in October 2020. Climate Tracker — Opportunity for Journalists from the Philippines
Climate Tracker seeks 15 journalists from across the Philippines for a three-day workshop on climate justice reporting. Climate Tracker will make 5 travel grants for deserving applicants to attend the workshop. One participating journalist will be selected for a fully-funded trip to Germany, to cover the UN climate talks in June. U.S. Department of State — Air Quality Management in Central Asia
The Bureau of Oceans and International Environmental and Scientific Affairs, U.S. State Department, announces the “Building Air Quality Management Capacity in Central Asia” program. The project targets government entities with the intend to strengthen regulatory and monitoring capacity of government actors and expand awareness of air quality issues in Central Asian countries. The program intends to provide US$296,296 in funding to be used for the production of educational materials, expert workshops, and the development of a monitoring and evaluation plan to be used by key agencies. Countries eligible for funding under this award include: Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan. Earth Journalism Network — Fellowships for the UN Ocean Conference 2020
The Earth Journalism Network (EJN) announces a new fellowship program for journalists interested in covering the United Nations Ocean Conference in Lisbon, Portugal (June 2020). EJN will pay for travel, accommodation and meal costs of selected fellows and provide any other support relating to the trip. Fellows will also benefit from two days of orientation and special briefings prior to the conference. Selected participants must be professional journalists or represent an established media house. UK Royal Society — Grants for Scientific Meetings
The Royal Society hosts a program of scientific meetings each year with the aim to bring together scientists from around the world to present and discuss new research in all areas of science. Each meeting is organised by leaders in the field, using their expertise to ensure the key topics are covered. The Royal Society contributes to travel and expenses for the meeting and provides logistical support. Proposals are invited from any UK-based researcher. Colorado State University — Seminar: Planning and Managing Tourism in Protected Areas
Colorado State University (CSU) offers a seminar in the Western USA for individuals engaged in tourism and outdoor recreation in protected areas. The next seminar is scheduled for September 2020. Ideal participants are mid-level professional and technical personnel who work for governmental or NGO conservation and tourism organizations; in academia; in the private sector; and in community-based and indigenous tourism and conservation initiatives in or near protected areas.
