The Development Related Infrastructure Investment Vehicle (DRIVE) is a program of Dutch support for infrastructural projects in the areas of water; climate; food security; and sexual and reproductive health and rights. The program offers funding support to entrepreneurs worldwide for construction projects in the eligible DRIVE subject areas and countries. Funding ranges from €5 million to €60 million. Applications are accepted and reviewed on a continuous basis. Link

The BBSRC Partnering Awards aim to set up partnership links between UK and overseas laboratories, promote the exchange of scientists, particularly early career scientists, and to promote access to facilities. Funding of up to £50 thousand is available for a period of up to four years for partnerships with Brazilian bioscience laboratories. International partnerships focusing on the net zero carbon emissions target, through a sustainable, resilient and bio-diverse agri-food system are especially welcome. Funds can only be used for travel, subsistence and other activities, such as workshops or exchanges. The application deadline is 10 November 2022. BBSRC Research Grant Brazil

WIDU.africa supports job creation in Africa by redirecting remittances from the African diaspora in Europe into micro and small businesses of relatives or friends in participating African countries. The WIDU Grant supports new and existing businesses with up to €2,500. Currently, WIDU offers local calls targeting green businesses in Kenya and Ethiopia to support enterprises interested in building a sustainable green future in their communities. Target sectors include renewable energy, agriculture, and reduction of waste. Applicants need to either have an existing small business or a concrete business idea. The Cacao for Peace Innovation Fund Grant Competition is designed to create and implement new student/faculty exchange and training programs in areas related to the cocoa value chain. Proposals must propose a research project focused on the cacao sector. The Innovation Fund intends to award up to eight grants of US$25 thousand. Higher education institutions in Colombia and the United States are eligible to apply. The deadline to apply is 31 January 2023. Link

The Olympus Microscopy Award recognizes the best in life science imaging worldwide. Olympus invites photographers and researchers worldwide to submit up to three microscopy photographs. Participants can win professional microscopy and photography equipment. One global winner and one regional winner from three world regions (Asia, Europe, Americas) will be selected. The SEED Starter Program offers workshops to guide young entrepreneurs from early stages of ideation to the generation of a viable business plan. SEED Starter invites applications from teams who develop green and inclusive business solutions to key social and environmental challenges in Thailand. Participation in the workshops is free, although participants need to cover their transportation costs and accommodation. All SEED Starter participants consist of a team of 2-5 members. The Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences (AUAS) aims to attract excellent students from around the world, therefore, it awards €4 thousand at the end of every academic year to successful non-EEA students who have been enrolled in one of the programs of the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences. Eligible courses are Agriculture, Forestry and Fishery, Environmental Sciences, Natural sciences and others. The MIT Solve program seeks passionate young innovators aged 24 and under who implement solutions that have positive impacts in their communities and the world. The Solv[ED] Youth Innovation Challenge is an opportunity to submit tech-based solutions that address one of four thematic areas: Learning, Health, Sustainability and Economic Prosperity, for example, innovations that can reduce the effects of climate change. 10 winners will receive prize funding and mentorship from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Anyone anywhere around the world can submit a solution to the Solv[ED] Youth Innovation Challenge if they are aged 24 and under. The deadline to submit solutions is 24 January 2023. The ONE Africa Award honors the exceptional work of individuals and organizations based in Africa to help Africa achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The amount of the award is US$100 thousand, which may be split into more than one prize. Eligibility for the award extends to civil society organizations, non-governmental organizations, and other groups based in Africa that can demonstrate commitment and success in advocacy to promote the attainment of one or more of the SDGs.
