German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety — International Climate Initiative (Country Specific Call: India)

Germany’s International Climate Initiative (IKI) supports projects on climate change mitigation and adaptation, and biodiversity projects that have climate relevance. Currently, IKI seeks to support programs in India. Thematic priorities are (1) Forest landscape restoration and piloting new models in forestry (including in urban areas); and (2) Storage technology for renewable energy. The IKI will support two bilateral programs with a funding volume of €15 million each, and a duration of five to seven years. Application is open to NGOs, business enterprises, universities, research institutes, and international and multinational organisations worldwide. Swedish International Development Agency — Disaster Risk Management in Asia

Sida funds short-term training in selected development topics for participants from developing countries. Sida seeks applications for the Advanced International Training Programme “Disaster Risk Management.” The overall objective of this program is to strengthen capacity of individuals and their organisations to manage disaster risk. The total duration of the program is 12 months (phase 1–3). Technical experts and middle management staff members employed by public authorities, civil society, and academia involved in disaster risk management from Nepal, Bangladesh, the Philippines and Cambodia are invited to apply. Sida will cover costs related to all program phases except personal expenses, visa fees or any local airport taxes and departure fees. The closing date for applications is 28 October 2019. ASEAN Foundation — Post-graduate Scholarship Program in Science and Technology

The Chulabhorn Graduate Institute (CGI) and the ASEAN Foundation (AF) accept applications for the Post-graduate Scholarship Program in Science and Technology 2020. Fields of study under this program are (1) Applied Biological Sciences: Environmental Health; (2) Environmental Toxicology; (3) and Chemical Biology. The scholarship will cover tuition, round trip airfare, a monthly stipend, book allowance, and health insurance, among other expenses. Earth Journalism Network — Bay of Bengal Media Grants 2020

The Earth Journalism Network (EJN) makes grants to media organizations in the Bay of Bengal region, that aim to improve the quantity and quality of information about climate change. Particular attention should be given to the adaptation needs, challenges, efforts and success stories of vulnerable and marginalized communities. Preference will be given to applications from or affiliated with professional journalists, media organizations, journalism schools, and the like. However, EJN will also consider applications by NGOs or environmental groups looking to build the capacity of journalists to cover conservation issues. German Embassy — Small-Scale Project Funding for Bangladesh

Germany provides direct financial assistance to NGOs, local communities and religious institutions for the implementation of a small project for the benefit of disadvantaged groups of society in Bangladesh. ETH Zurich — Seed Grants for Swiss-Asian Research Collaboration 2019

In partnership with Switzerland’s State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation (SERI), ETH Zurich promotes scientific cooperation with key institutions in the Asia-Pacific region. ETH Zurich currently calls for proposals from Swiss researchers with partners in China (incl. Hong Kong and Taiwan), Japan, South Korea, and the ASEAN region. The call is open for activities in all scientific disciplines and fields of research. The maximum grant is CHF 25 thousand for projects of up to 12 months. Denmark Ministry of Foreign Affairs — Mobility Grants for Research with Danish Partners

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of Denmark provides grants for development research as part of Denmark’s international development cooperation. The MFA invites applications for individual Danida Mobility Grants to facilitate research stays in Denmark by researchers from the following countries: Bangladesh, Brazil, China, Colombia, Ghana, India, Indonesia, Iran, Kenya, Mexico, Myanmar, South Africa, Turkey, or Vietnam. ASEAN Foundation — FutureReady ASEAN Competition

Future Ready ASEAN is an online platform with learning tracks to foster digital skills, in particular computer science. The FutureReady ASEAN Competition invites ASEAN youth to develop a blog site on a pressing challenge in the ASEAN region across one of the four following sub-themes: Agriculture, Biodiversity, Climate Change, Water. The competition is open to all ASEAN youth aged 15 to 35. The finalists will be invited to present their blog at a final event in Bangkok, Thailand (28-29 November 2019). South Asian Network for Development and Environmental Economics — Research on Forest Restoration in South Asia

SANDEE invites concept notes for research projects in the area of environmental and resource economics relating to the development of South Asia and the Hindu Kush-Himalayan Region. SANDEE has particular interest in research proposals on forest restoration. Grants will range between US$20 thousand and US$30 thousand. Larger grants for multidisciplinary teams and transboundary issues are possible. Researchers (including early-career) from South Asia and the HKH employed by a university, research institute, a government agency or a nonprofit organizations are eligible. The India Department of Science and Technology (DST) seeks applications for joint research projects with partner from the EU related to renewable energy and its integration in the energy system.
