Earth Journalism Network — East Africa Wildlife Journalism Media Grants

The Earth Journalism Network (EJN) invites environmental, conservation or science-based journalism organizations in Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania to apply for grants to work with African journalists to improve and increase wildlife and conservation coverage in the media. The proposed activities should include capacity building; issuing travel/reporting grants to journalists; and media roundtables/workshops. Swedish International Development Agency — Disaster Risk Management in Asia

Sida funds short-term training in selected development topics for participants from developing countries. Sida seeks applications for the Advanced International Training Programme “Disaster Risk Management.” The overall objective of this program is to strengthen capacity of individuals and their organisations to manage disaster risk. The total duration of the program is 12 months (phase 1–3). Technical experts and middle management staff members employed by public authorities, civil society, and academia involved in disaster risk management from Nepal, Bangladesh, the Philippines and Cambodia are invited to apply. Sida will cover costs related to all program phases except personal expenses, visa fees or any local airport taxes and departure fees. The closing date for applications is 28 October 2019. ASEAN Foundation — Post-graduate Scholarship Program in Science and Technology

The Chulabhorn Graduate Institute (CGI) and the ASEAN Foundation (AF) accept applications for the Post-graduate Scholarship Program in Science and Technology 2020. Fields of study under this program are (1) Applied Biological Sciences: Environmental Health; (2) Environmental Toxicology; (3) and Chemical Biology. The scholarship will cover tuition, round trip airfare, a monthly stipend, book allowance, and health insurance, among other expenses. Earth Journalism Network — Bay of Bengal Media Grants 2020

The Earth Journalism Network (EJN) makes grants to media organizations in the Bay of Bengal region, that aim to improve the quantity and quality of information about climate change. Particular attention should be given to the adaptation needs, challenges, efforts and success stories of vulnerable and marginalized communities. Preference will be given to applications from or affiliated with professional journalists, media organizations, journalism schools, and the like. However, EJN will also consider applications by NGOs or environmental groups looking to build the capacity of journalists to cover conservation issues. ASEAN Foundation — FutureReady ASEAN Competition

Future Ready ASEAN is an online platform with learning tracks to foster digital skills, in particular computer science. The FutureReady ASEAN Competition invites ASEAN youth to develop a blog site on a pressing challenge in the ASEAN region across one of the four following sub-themes: Agriculture, Biodiversity, Climate Change, Water. The competition is open to all ASEAN youth aged 15 to 35. The finalists will be invited to present their blog at a final event in Bangkok, Thailand (28-29 November 2019). The Next Society launches its 3rd call for applications to join the Start-up Booster Track, a program that offers tailor-made support to Mediterranean startups. Participants will learn how to raise fund through workshops and training. United States Agency for International Development — Combatting Wildlife Crime in Uganda

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) seeks applications from qualified entities to reduce threats to biodiversity resulting from the illegal wildlife trade in Uganda. Project proposals under this call should include activities in inter-agency cooperation, law enforcement capacity building, and information sharing for better implementation of anti-wildlife crime approaches. USAID intends to provide up to US$4 million, to be allocated over the five-year period. Eligibility for this call is not restricted. International Fund for Agricultural Development — Meat Value Chains for Women and Youth in Africa

The International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) seeks proposals for grants to  implement inclusive red meat value chains for women and youth farmers in Eastern and Southern Africa. The IFAD will support livestock development in the targeted countries Malawi, Mozambique, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. The grant amount under this call is up to US$2 million. Euromena Consulting invites applications for the 3rd Euromena Awards – Sub-Saharan Africa Edition. The awards are intended for companies or innovative projects with social, economic, environmental and/or societal impact. To be eligible, the startup must be based in a sub-saharan country.
