U.S. Mission to Rwanda — Funding for Community Organizations

The Ambassador’s Special Self-Help (SSH) Program is a grants program that seeks to reduce poverty and hunger in sub-Saharan Africa. SSH announces an open competition for organizations in Rwanda to submit applications to carry out a small, community-based development program. Funding aims at assisting community groups to develop lasting, self-sustaining projects with focus on development concerns, including sustainable agriculture, renewable energy, and access to clean water and sanitation. Mirova — Nature-based Solutions

The Nature+ Accelerator Fund aims to support nature-based innovative solutions to mitigate and adapt to climate change whilst delivering positive impacts both on biodiversity and the wellbeing of local communities. The Fund will invest in projects across the following four categories: Terrestrial Conservation and Restoration; Marine Conservation and Coastal Resilience; Sustainable Agriculture; and Nature-Based Innovation (e.g., drone technology, conservation-focused smart apps, etc.). Projects with an early-stage concept may request between US$100-200 thousand, projects that have a proof-of-concept can receive between US$1-2 million, and successful projects looking for follow-on funding to scale-up will receive up to US$5 million. Applicants must be seeking commercial proposals – the funding delivered will be investment capital subject to repayment and returns. The application window closes 31 August 2022. Asia Pacific Forum on Women, Law and Development — Sustainable Development Goals Monitoring

The Asia Pacific Forum on Women, Law and Development (APWLD) invites women’s rights and feminist organizations to apply for sub-grants. APWLD will support up to 8 organizations to do monitoring of the SDGs implementation in their country. The aim is to develop the capacity of feminist movements and women’s rights organizations to conduct evidence-based advocacy for the monitoring and review of the Sustainable Development Goals. APWLD will provide each partner organization with a sub-grant of between US$15 thousand to US$18 thousand. Applicants should be non-profit women’s rights and/or women-led organizations from countries in the Asia Pacific region. Interested organizations should submit their application before 07 June 2022. Slovak Republic — Small Grants for Projects in the Ukraine

SlovakAid supports small-scale projects in various sectors, including the sustainable use of natural resources. This includes projects with focus on drinking water supply, wastewater treatment, raising environmental awareness, alternative energy sources, increasing resilience to natural disasters, including climate change, soil protection, halting the loss of biodiversity, protecting ecosystems, and restoring degraded ecosystems. The current call supports local projects in the Ukraine in accordance with the Strategy of the Slovak Republic for International Development Cooperation. The maximum financial support per project is €10 thousand with a maximum project duration of 6-12 months. Eligibility extends to non-profit organizations and local authorities in the Ukraine. Inter-American Development Bank — Chemicals and Hazardous Waste in the Caribbean

The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) seeks to support innovative solutions that contribute to the sound management of hazardous Chemicals and Waste in the Caribbean region. The call is aimed at startups, small and medium-sized companies, NGOs, corporations, and other organizations in the private sector that offer innovative solutions. Solutions must be scalable, sustainable, and promote the economic and social inclusion of poor and vulnerable populations. U.S. Department of State — Combating Wildlife Trafficking in the Dominican Republic

The United States Agency for International Development seeks applications from qualified entities to implement the “Combating Wildlife Trafficking” program. USAID aims to reduce threats to biodiversity in the Caribbean region by reducing the illegal collection and poaching of wildlife for international trade related to demand for pets or collections, food, medicines, jewelry and crafts. The overall funding amount is anticipated at US$3 million. Eligibility for this award is not restricted. Applications have to be received by 03 June 2022. Details

 

Fisheries and Oceans Canada — Sustainable Fisheries Solutions & Retrieval Support

The Sustainable Fisheries Solutions and Retrieval Support Contribution Program (Ghost Gear Fund) supports actions that prevent and mitigate the risk of ghost fishing and encourage the development of sustainable fishing practices domestically (Canada) and abroad. The Ghost Gear Fund will also support fish harvesters to acquire new gear technologies to reduce the occurrence of gear loss. Typical Ghost Gear Fund contributions can be expected in the range of C$50 thousand to C$1 million. Eligible recipients include Canadian and international charitable organizations, companies, Indigenous organizations/communities, academic institutions, and Canadian individuals. U.S. Department of State — Built Water Storage in South Asia

The U.S. Department of State seeks organizations to build technical and policy capacity to develop and manage built water storage in the South Asian region. The project will  be implemented in Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Nepal, and Pakistan. The intended beneficiaries of this project are government officials in the targeted countries; water management, environmental and energy management, and other related professionals; faculty members and advanced students. The anticipated award amount is US$1.28 million. Proposed programs should be completed in 36 months or less. Eligibility is restricted to non-profit organizations. Canada Fund for Local Initiatives — Community Projects in Ethiopia, Djibouti, African Union

The Canada Fund for Local Initiatives invites proposals that meet the needs of local communities in Ethiopia, Djibouti, African Union. The priorities under this call include women’s economic rights, decent jobs and entrepreneurship, and investing in the poorest and most vulnerable (which may include agriculture or aquaculture projects), as well as environment, climate action focusing on adaptation and mitigation, and water management. The average contribution is C$30 thousand to C$50 thousand per project. Eligibility extends to local community organizations, non-profit organizations, and academic institutions. Energias de Portugal — Clean Energy Projects in Remote Rural Areas

Energias de Portugal (EDP) supports sustainable and clean energy projects in remote rural areas. The 4th edition of the EDP Energy Access Fund supports clean energy projects in Angola, Malawi, Mozambique, Nigeria, and Rwanda. Projects are expected to relieve energy poverty across one or more of five focus areas, including water and agriculture (boreholes, water pumping and crop irrigation). Projects may apply for support between €50 thousand and €150 thousand. Eligibility extends to non-profit and for-profit entities. Individuals or groups are not eligible.
