Asian Institute of Technology and UNESCO-IHE — Joint Master’s Degree Programs

The Asian Institute of Technology in Thailand and the UNESCO-IHE Institute for Water Education in the Netherlands offer Joint Degree Master’s programs in “Environmental Technology for Sustainable Development”, “Urban Water Engineering and Management “, and “Agricultural Water Management for Enhanced Land and Water Productivity”. Applicants may seek financial support and scholarships from external sources, for example, the Joint Japan World Bank Graduate Scholarship Program (JJ/WBGSP) or the Orange Knowledge Program (OKP). Asian Development Bank — Atoll Youth Climate Leaders

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) seeks 15 youth from atoll nations who are passionate and committed to being young leaders for change through climate action. The selected youth will be part of the project on “Catalyzing Youth-led Climate Action” and undergo capacity building through a series of training sessions. After capacity building, project teams will work on youth-led climate project demonstrations to be presented at the Ocean Conference (Palau, April 2022). Participants will each receive a certificate of completion from ADB Youth for Asia as well as a daily allowance and communication support for a total of 50 days. Eligibility extends to youth aged 18-30 years old currently living in any of the atoll nations (Marshall Islands, Kiribati, Tuvalu, or the Maldives). Thought for Food — Ambassador Program 2022

The TFF Community seeks passionate young leaders from all over the world for the TFF Ambassador Program. TFF Ambassadors are groups of volunteers worldwide who commit to spread TFF’s mission on a local level around the world. Ambassadors will have the chance to host meetups and events focused on raising awareness about food and agriculture, play a role in building essential regional, national, and international partnerships, and gain access to resources, training, and tools for capacity building. Thought for Food — MENA Agri-Food-Tech Challenge

The Thought For Food (TFF) Foundation invites innovators across the Middle East and Northern Africa (MENA) region to share their innovative solutions to transform food systems. The challenge call is open to all entrepreneurs from the MENA region who have a solution to create a healthier, more sustainable and resilient food system. One Grand Prize winner will receive US$8 thousand to use for the purpose of their project and access to the TFF Digital Labs collaboration platform. The deadline to apply is 05 February 2022. Flemish Inter-University Council — Scholarships for Master Programs in Flanders

VLIR-UOS is the secretariat of Flemish universities for development cooperation, with funding by Belgian Development Cooperation. VLIR-UOS announces courses at Belgian Flemish universities and university colleges that are eligible for scholarships in 2022/23. They include 1-year masters’ programs, along with training courses lasting from two weeks to three months. Subject areas include aquaculture, marine science, plant breeding, nematology, water resources, rural development, and others. Eligibility for scholarships extends to applicants from developing countries in Southeast Asia, Sub-Saharan Africa, and Latin America. The scholarship amount varies with a maximum support of €58,320. Candidates apply directly to the Flemish universities that offer the programs, requesting scholarship support. The deadline for submission project proposals to Flemish universities is between February and March 2022 (depending on the program). Details here

KU Leuven — PhD Scholarships for Students from the Global South

KU Leuven is the largest university in Flanders, Belgium. As one part of its cooperation to advance international development, KU Leuven offers 10 PhD scholarships to candidates from developing countries. The university offers sandwich scholarships, which means that 50% of the research takes place at KU Leuven and 50% at the home institution of the scholar, as well as full-time research at KU Leuven (4 years). The scholarships are offered to proposals that deal with a development-relevant research topic, preferably linked to the Sustainable Development Goals. University of California — Animal Law and Policy

The UCLA Animal Law and Policy Program advances animal protection through reliable, impactful research, effective law and policy reform, and training in practical legal tools. The program funds new empirical research in a wide variety of fields (from behavioral economics to law to moral psychology). UCLA anticipates funding approximately five to seven individual projects with a suggested total budget in the range of US$1,000 to US$4,500. Scholars and researchers affiliated with an accredited academic institution of higher learning in the United States may apply. However, UCLA accepts applications from and relating to other countries, as long as the principal investigator is based at a US university. Netherlands Organization for International Cooperation in Higher Education — Future Matters Scholarship

The NN Future Matters scholarship and coaching program supports professional development by offering young people who need support access to mentorship and coaching throughout their studies. The scholarship consists of €5 thousand and a mentorship. Students have to be enrolled at a full-time program in the field of finance, risk management, economics, data science, entrepreneurship or IT at one of nine participating Dutch research universities. Only students from Belgium, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Greece, Hungary, Japan, the Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Spain or Turkey are eligible. The application deadline is 01 April 2022. U.S. Mission Morocco — STEM Youth Engagement

The Public Diplomacy Grants Program aims to promote positive relations between Morocco and the United States and help Moroccan youth (aged 14-25) build and develop skills to improve their potential through innovative science (especially environmental and health awareness), technology, engineering, arts, and math (STEAM) programs. The U.S. Mission considers proposals for projects ranging from US$5 thousand to US$25 thousand. An organization or individual may submit an application. AECF — Kakuma Kalobeyei Challenge Fund

AECF builds resilience and sustainable incomes for rural and marginalised communities in Africa. The Kakuma Kalobeyei Challenge Fund (KKCF) is a competitive business challenge  that will support established companies, social enterprises, and local entrepreneurs in implementing commercially viable and sustainable businesses in the Kakuma refugee camp and Turkana County (Kenya). The Fund provides grants ranging from US$100 thousand to US$750 thousand and technical assistance to micro and small enterprises.
