Yale University — Yale Young African Scholars 2023

Yale Young African Scholars (YYAS) offers an academic summer program for secondary school students from across Africa. The program offers online and in-person programs in four interdisciplinary sessions on Innovations in Science & Technology and Solving Global Challenges. Admitted participants will have access to pre-recorded videos before the start of the program and attend live sessions. There is no tuition cost to participate in the program. UNESCO — Green and Accessible Cities

UNESCO and partners invite participants to contribute their ideas on how to make cities more accessible and sustainable through innovative environmental friendly approaches. Participants are invited to carry out urban design projects or conduct research studies and submit original papers. The competition is open to university students worldwide. Save Our Seas Foundation — Ocean Storytelling Writing Grant

The Save Our Seas Foundation (SOS) Ocean Storytelling Writing Grant supports conservation storytellers. SOS is looking for writers who can tell conservation stories about the oceans, from the animals themselves, to fisheries, to the communities whose lives are intertwined with marine life. Story topics can range from the animals themselves, to fisheries to the communities whose lives are intertwined with marine life. Successful grantees will receive a paid assignment to cover a conservation story. SOS seeks to support early-career and emerging storytellers and aims to encourage new voices with new perspectives and writing approaches. The deadline to apply is 30 November 2022. Rockefeller Foundation & Acumen — Food Systems Fellowship

Acumen, with funding from the Rockefeller Foundation, invites students from all around the world to submit innovative solutions to tackle the greatest food systems challenges. The Rockefeller Foundation-Acumen Food Systems Fellowship is an intensive, one-year leadership development program for food systems leaders who are creating more inclusive, nourishing and regenerative food systems. Eligibility extends to individuals who demonstrate experience in building inclusive food systems. Olympus — Global Life Science Light Microscopy Award

The Olympus Microscopy Award recognizes the best in life science imaging worldwide. Olympus invites photographers and researchers worldwide to submit up to three microscopy photographs. Participants can win professional microscopy and photography equipment. One global winner and one regional winner from three world regions (Asia, Europe, Americas) will be selected. Earth Journalism Network — Biodiversity Story Grants East Africa

The Earth Journalism Network (EJN) makes reporting grants to further the understanding of the importance of biodiversity in East Africa and region-specific threats to biodiversity conservation. Up to 10 journalists will receive grants of US$1,200 to produce in-depth biodiversity and conservation feature stories in East Africa. Journalists from Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania and Rwanda are welcome to apply. Applications are open to journalists working in any medium (online, print, television, radio) and other expert media practitioners with professional reporting experience. SEED — Starter Workshop for Eco-Enterprises in Thailand

The SEED Starter Program offers workshops to guide young entrepreneurs from early stages of ideation to the generation of a viable business plan. SEED Starter invites applications from teams who develop green and inclusive business solutions to key social and environmental challenges in Thailand. Participation in the workshops is free, although participants need to cover their transportation costs and accommodation. All SEED Starter participants consist of a team of 2-5 members. Global Landscapes Forum — Seed Funding to Protect and Restore Forests

The Global Landscapes Forum (GLFx) provides seed funding to protect and restore forest areas in Africa. Applications run through GLF chapters, groups of local change agents that mobilize their communities and stakeholders to promote sustainable landscape restoration. Selected chapters will receive a seed fund of €5 thousand to run chapter activities such as community training, workshops and toolkits to facilitate the implementation of community action plans. Morris Animal Foundation — Wildlife Health and Welfare 2023

The Morris Animal Foundation supports research on animal health and welfare, including wildlife/exotics. The Foundation invites proposals in several categories: Established Investigator (average US$50 thousand per year for 3 years); First Award (US$54 thousand per year for 2 years); Fellowship Training (average US$50 thousand per year for 2 years); Pilot Study (max US$10 thousand); and Veterinary Students (stipends of up to US$5 thousand). Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences — Amsterdam Talent Scholarship

The Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences (AUAS) aims to attract excellent students from around the world, therefore, it awards €4 thousand at the end of every academic year to successful non-EEA students who have been enrolled in one of the programs of the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences. Eligible courses are Agriculture, Forestry and Fishery, Environmental Sciences, Natural sciences and others.
