Partnership for Research and Innovation in the Mediterranean Area — Water-Energy-Ecosystem-Food Nexus
The Partnership for Research and Innovation in the Mediterranean Area (PRIMA) aims to leverage knowledge on the Nexus management of Water-Energy-Food-Ecosystems resources in the Mediterranean region. PRIMA seeks concepts and practical solutions that address the interdependency of food, water and energy securities by analyzing trade-offs and synergies between sectors and potential impact on social stability due to resource shortages and climate change. Projects can request up to €3.1 million for a period of 36 months. Companies/enterprises, non-profit organizations, NGOs, public research organizations, and universities from the following non-EU countries are eligible: Israel, Tunisia, Turkey, Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon and Morocco. Earth Journalism Network — Coastal Resilience Story Grants
The Earth Journalism Network (EJN) offers reporting grants to journalists worldwide to support the production of in-depth stories that will call attention to coastal resiliency and solutions for coastal issues. EJN welcomes any story ideas that will explore coastal resilience issues, including ecosystem rehabilitation, livelihood and food security, shelter and infrastructure, land use and development. Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund (CEPF) makes small grants in support of biodiversity conservation in Indonesia with focus on the “Wallacea Biodiversity Hotspot.” Grants are in support of community-based sustainable small-scale fisheries, protection and conservation of endangered marine species, marine protected areas management, and activities that promote improved marine and coastal ecosystems. This call is for small grants of less than US$50 thousand. Eligibility for grants extends to NGOs, community groups, private enterprises, universities, and other civil society applicants. Mama Cash — Women’s Land and Resource Rights
Mama Cash makes grants in support of grassroots women’s rights groups that focus on environmental justice, for example, groups that address the exclusion of indigenous women from decision-making over their land and groups that fight for their right to water, food, and a clean, safe, and healthy environment. Grants can be used for advocacy, capacity building, public education, or forming alliances across movements. The average grant size is between €20-30 thousand per year. The European Commission (EC) aims to promote capacity development of local civil society in Gabon and São Tomé and Príncipe. The action aims to contribute to an inclusive and independent civil society which engages in decision making in the areas of economic development, environment, and food security.
