Canada Fund for Local Initiatives — Community Projects in Cuba

The Canada Fund for Local Initiatives invites proposals that meet the needs of local communities in Cuba. The priorities under this call include women’s economic rights, decent jobs and entrepreneurship, and investing in the poorest and most vulnerable (which may include agriculture or aquaculture projects), as well as environment, climate action focusing on adaptation and mitigation, and water management. The average contribution is C$10 thousand to C$24 thousand per project. Eligibility extends to local community organizations, non-profit organizations, and academic institutions. European Commission — Civil Society Development in Jamaica and Belize

The European Commission (EC) aims to promote capacity development of local civil society in Jamaica and Belize. The action aims to contribute to an inclusive and independent civil society which engages in decision making, is able to address and respond to development challenges, and empowers women and girls. Applicants may request between €150 thousand and €500 thousand in project funding. U.S. Mission Turkey — Grants Program

U.S. Mission Turkey announces a grants program to support projects in the fields of agribusiness, innovative agricultural technology/practices, combatting climate change, developing the blue economy, and promoting the role of women in peace and security, among others. Legally registered civil society organizations, non-profit organizations, universities and individuals operating in Turkey can apply. Grants range from US$5 thousand to US$75 thousand. United Nations World Tourism Organization — Award for Sustainable Tourism

The United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) seeks to find the most innovative startups that are working to advance the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. The UNWTO Awards acknowledge the contribution of institutions to competitive and sustainable tourism development. Tourism startups should contribute to one of six goals: Local community involvement; Green and blue economies; Ecological and Sustainable Capital Creation; Tourism Tech for Good; Tourism Education; Women Empowerment. U.S. Department of State — Inclusive Action for Climate Change

The U.S. Department of State announces an open competition for organizations to submit applications to carry out the “Inclusive Action for Climate Change” program to promote gender equity in climate policymaking and programs in South Asia. The project will assist women-led organizations to advocate for and achieve gender equity and equality in climate change adaptation efforts, including in emergency preparedness and recovery from climate-related disasters. Awards may range to a maximum of US$1.48 million. Eligible applicants are U.S. and foreign non-profit organizations, including think tanks and civil society organizations, and educational institutions. The average contribution is C$22 thousand to C$49 thousand per project. Eligibility extends to local community organizations, non-profit organizations, and academic institutions. Climate Investment Platform — EmPower Her

EmPower Her seeks to close the financing gap for early-stage clean energy projects in least developed markets by supporting women-led organizations or organizations whose main focus is women’s empowerment. Private sector developers, NGOs, universities and research centers from least developed countries are eligible to apply. Successful project proponents receive up to US$40 thousand to accelerate the preparation of investment readiness. The pre-screening application deadline is 08 April 2022. EmPower Her

World Academy of Sciences — Gender Equity and Climate Action

The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS) and the Elsevier Foundation invite applications for project grants for Gender Equity and Climate Action. Grants are awarded to teams of 2-5 women for action-based projects which, although scientific in nature, will take them outside the lab to promote practical and tangible change under the umbrella of the “climate action” SDG in their local context. The project grant is designed to be flexible, with a total value of up to US$25 thousand. The principal applicant has to be a woman scientist, holding a PhD, living and working in a science and technology lagging country. The deadline for applications is 19 May 2022. TWAS – Elsevier

SouthSouthNorth — Just Climate Action

SouthSouthNorth (SSN) supports national and regional responses to climate change through policy and knowledge interventions, partnerships and deep collaboration. The Voices for Just Climate Action (VCA) program supports communications and capacity development projects in Kenya to ensure that underrepresented groups become advocates of innovative and inclusive climate solutions. The Alliance seeks to partner with Kenyan organizations specializing in climate change-related research and advocacy for local CSOs, focusing on women, youth, urban poor, rural communities, and marginalized groups.
