European Investment Bank Institute — Social Innovation Tournament
The Social Innovation Tournament recognizes and supports the best European social entrepreneurs with projects focusing on the environment (with a special emphasis on biodiversity and ecosystem conservation). Prizes range from €10 thousand to €75 thousand. In 2023, the Special Category prizes will go to projects focusing on sustainable cities and communities. Finalists participate in a training program and benefit from grants programs, participation in conferences around Europe and access to a network of investors. Solution Search — Changing Unsustainable Trade
Rare’s Center for Behavior & the Environment and partners seek existing solutions that are changing behaviors to help solve the world’s most challenging environmental problems. For this year’s contest, Solutions Search seeks proven behavior-change initiatives in Latin America and the Caribbean that reduce the unsustainable/illegal wildlife trade. Contest entrants get access to capacity building, workshops, and networking opportunities to further refine and scale their solution. Two winners will win US$20 thousand. GSMA — Innovation Fund for Anticipatory Humanitarian Action
GSMA Innovation Fund for Anticipatory Humanitarian Action seeks to help accelerate the testing, adoption and scalability of digital innovations that leverage mobile digital technology to help anticipate potential humanitarian impacts and enable effective early response. Successful projects will receive an equity-free grant of between £100 thousand and £250 thousand to scale their innovation over a 15 to 18 month period. Young Water Solutions — Young Water Fellowship Program: LAC
The Young Water Fellowship Program aims to empower young leaders from the developing world to implement projects addressing water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH), water pollution, and water scarcity. The program offers intensive training, seed grants up to €5 thousand for projects, and mentoring support by senior experts during one year. Applications are currently invited from individuals ages 18-30 who are residents of the low and middle-income countries in Latin America and the Caribbean. Safer End of Engineered Life — Reducing the Burning of Waste
The Safer End of Engineered Life funds projects that tackle the open burning of waste that lead to a risk to human health and safety. Activities must lead to demonstrable impacts for the beneficiaries, which reduces the risks posed to vulnerable groups as a result of the open burning of municipal solid waste. There are two types of grants available: impact grants (up to £60 thousand) and baseline study and awareness-raising grants (up to £20 thousand). United Nations Development Programme — Small Grants for Sustainable Livelihoods Projects in Zimbabwe
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) invites proposals for projects towards supporting awareness and education on conservation; sustainable livelihoods activities; and alternative sources of income and energy in Zimbabwe. Proposed project budgets should not exceed US$150 thousand. Total expected duration of each project is up to 18 months. InsuResilience Solutions Fund — Agricultural Insurance Projects
The InsuResilience Solutions Fund (ISF) seeks projects with a holistic approach on disaster relief and preparedness. The Fund will support the development of new climate risk insurance products or the scaling-up of already existing products with the aim to increase the resilience of poor and vulnerable people in developing countries to climate change. ISF provides grant-based co-funding of up to €2.5 million, but requires matching the grant funding (in-kind and/or as a financial contribution).
