The John G. Bene Fellowship is awarded to graduate students at Canadian universities who hold Canadian citizenship or permanent residency. The grant is for research on the relationship of forest resources and the social, economic, cultural, and environmental welfare of people in developing countries. Therefore, the student must spend a minimum of 10 consecutive weeks in the field in the following regions: Middle East, North Africa, West Africa, East Africa, Southern Africa, Southeast Asia, South Asia, Far Eastern Asia, Caribbean, Central America, South America, or Oceania.The award covers field research expenses up to CA$23 thousand per year. The Nature Conservancy — Photo Contest 2023
The Nature Conservancy Photo Contest seeks photographs that bring the natural world to people’s eyes and to their hearts. Participants can submit their pictures into five different categories: Cities and Nature; Landscape; People and Nature; Water; and Wildlife. Winners will receive gift cards and equipment. Regional Incubator for Social Entrepreneurs — Support for Young Social Entrepreneurs
Regional Incubator for Social Entrepreneurs (RISE) is a project for the youth, willing to learn and change things for the betterment of the Western Balkans. RISE invites ideas or innovative solutions for a new and better way to approach education, women empowerment, culture, rural development, health or employment in regional communities. The program will support regional changemakers through tailor-made programs, mentorship, and training. The Locally Led Development Initiative seeks to increase sustainability and impact in the areas of regional environmental and sustainable growth; women’s empowerment, and climate change. Concept notes should propose programs implemented in two or more of the following Amazon Basin countries: Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Guyana, Peru, and Suriname. World Academy of Sciences — Research Cooperation Visits Program
TWAS-SISSA-Lincei invites young scientists from least developed countries to carry out collaborative research projects in Physics, Neuroscience, Mathematics, Science Outreach as well as projects that fall under the umbrella of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Scientists have the opportunity to visit research laboratories in Trieste (Italy) to carry out research work in scientific fields within the SISSA portfolio. Brevard Zoo — Grants for Wildlife Conservation
The Brevard Zoo Conservation Fund supports projects that incorporate the community, education and wildlife conservation. The Fund is sustained through the Quarters for Conservation program which is a small surcharge from each general admission to the zoo. Each year, four wildlife conservation organizations are highlighted for an entire year at the Quarters for Conservation voting station. The four organizations selected will receive US$25 thousand, plus bonus donations based on guest voting. Applicants must be a non-profit wildlife conservation organization. Embassy of the Czech Republic — Small Local Development Projects
The Embassy of the Czech Republic in Pretoria launches its annual call for proposals for Small Scale Development Projects. The call concerns all countries accredited to the Embassy: South Africa, Angola, Botswana, Eswatini, Madagascar, Mauritius, Mozambique, Lesotho and Namibia. Projects and development activities providing materials or equipment, training, or capacity-building in the fields of sustainable management of natural resources, agriculture, and economic transformation (including renewable energy) are welcome. The Czech Republic will provide up to CZK 500 thousand per project. Non-profit organizations, educational institutions, or community groups are welcome to apply. World Food Programme — Innovation Challenge
The Digital Green Innovation Acceleration Program (DGIx) seeks high-impact digital ventures and projects solving some of the most pressing environmental challenges in Benin, Botswana, Cameroon, Democratic Republic of Congo, Ghana, Côte d’Ivoire, Kenya, Mozambique, Namibia, Niger, Rwanda, Senegal, Tanzania, and Togo. Selected ventures, solution providers and consortiums will receive a six-month acceleration program with access to up to US$230 thousand in equity-free funding, coaching, and mentorship support. The Azimuth World Foundation funds projects by grassroots Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities-led organizations aiming to improve access to health and to save water.
