The British Council supports research workshops under the programs Researcher Links and the Newton Fund to assist early-career researchers from the UK and Russia to interact and explore research collaborations. The workshop ‘Sustainable Energy and Climate Change in Russia: policies, discourses and narratives’ will provide an opportunity for sharing research expertise and networking. During the workshop, Early Career Researchers will have the opportunity to present their research. European Bank for Reconstruction and Development — Central European Initiative, Know-How Exchange 2018
The Know-how Exchange Program co-finances the transfer of know-how and best practices from EU to non-EU member countries of the Central European Initiative (CEI). Thematic areas in the current call by KEP-Italy include energy, environment, and agriculture and rural development (among others). Proposals are submitted by organizations in CEI member states which are also member states of the European Union for knowledge transfers to non-EU member states of the CEI. The non-EU members of the CEI are Albania, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Serbia, Ukraine. The maximum grant is €40 thousand. The AJSPI, in partnership with the BNP Paribas Foundation, launches its first climate investigation grant for European science journalists. The purpose of this grant is to encourage ambitious field investigations focused on understanding climate, adaptation to climate change, and different mitigation strategies. The William and Flora Hewlett Foundation makes grants to solve social and environmental problems in the USA and internationally. The Foundation’s grant making for its environmental sub-program in Climate and Energy makes grants to strengthen global climate policy. The Foundation also funds improvements in transportation to reduce air pollution — focusing on China, India, Europe, and the United States. Most of Hewlett’s grants are by invitation. Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund — Evaluation of Pilot Long-term Vision Exercises
The CEPF seeks applications from civil society organizations to submit proposals to conduct an evaluation of three pilot long-term vision exercises for (1) the Balkans sub-region; (2) the Indo-Burma Hotspot; and (3) the Albertine Rift and Eastern Arc Mountains sub-region. The objective of the evaluation is to inform the scope of work for future long-term vision exercises. The evaluation must be conducted during April 2018. The US-Russia Youth TV Bridge is an international platform for increasing cooperation between US and Russian youth through collaborative video production. The Swedish Agency for Development Cooperation (Sida) seeks applications for its Demonstration Grants program. Proposed projects should be international technology and knowledge exchanges involving new and sustainable solutions which positively and measurably impact the environment and poverty reduction. The programme’s focus areas are climate change adaptation/mitigation; ecosystem services; renewable energy; water and sanitation; and urban development. Eligibility extends to companies or organisations based in Kenya, Mozambique, Tanzania, Zambia, Bangladesh, Cambodia, Bolivia, Colombia, Guatemala, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine. Grants range from SEK 500 thousand to SEK 1.8 million. Applications will be reviewed in two steps. In the first step, applicants submit concept notes. In the second step, applicants whose project ideas have been reviewed and accepted in the first step will be invited to submit a full application.
