The EEA and Norway Grants support cross-border and transnational project initiatives in ten non-EU Member States. Proposals that fall within the scope of the Terra Viva Grants Directory include environment, energy, and climate change projects, among other focus areas. Grants are available for national and local authorities, NGOs and civil society organisations, private and public enterprises, educational and research institutions, students and teaching staff and social partners. Eligible entities must apply as a consortium, consisting of entities from a minimum of three countries (a list of eligible countries is shared in the announcement). European Commission — Kolarctic Collaboration, Europe with Russia (3rd Call for Proposals)
Kolarctic offers funding to projects that contribute to internationalization and cross-border cooperation between countries in northern Europe (Finland, Norway, Sweden) and Northwest Russia. Themes in Kolarctic address environmental protection, along with climate change adaptation and mitigation (among others). Eligibility for project funding extends to private and public organizations from each side of the EU-Russia border. Every project should provide at least 10% co-funding. European Energy Community — Summer School 2018
The Energy Community aims to extend the EU internal energy market to South East Europe and beyond. The Secretariat of the Energy Community announces the 3rd Energy Community Summer School that will take place in Croatia in August-September 2018. The Secretariat welcomes applications from postgraduate students, researchers in energy-related disciplines, and young professionals from government institutions, companies, think tanks, and NGOs in the region of the Energy Community. The non-EU members of the Energy Community include Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Kosovo, FYR of Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Serbia, Ukraine, and Turkey. Eurasia Foundation — Project Competition 2017/2018
The US-Russia Social Expertise Exchange announces the launch of its recent project competition. Project ideas in the field of “Hands-on Learning in the Areas of Flora and Fauna” are welcome. This includes preservation of ecosystems and waterways, wildlife protection, and tech-based ecological stewardship. Teams composed of at least one US and one Russian organization or higher education institution are invited to propose innovative bilateral initiatives that benefit the people of both countries. Network for Rural Development of Serbia invites civil society organisations (CSOs) to submit applications related to the thematic areas of sustainable rural development. This may include capacity building programs in sustainable agriculture, environment protection, sustainable management of natural resources, and others. The maximum grants size is €17 thousand per organization. Eligibility extends to organizations from Serbia, Montenegro, Albania, Macedonia, Turkey, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Kosovo. Interreg Baltic Sea Region — Sustainable Baltic Sea
Interreg Baltic Sea Region financially supports transnational projects contributing to the development of a more sustainable Baltic Sea region. The third call for project applications focusses on three thematic fields: (1) capacity for innovation; (2) management of natural resources; and (3) sustainable transport. The Programme area covers eight EU Member States (Denmark, Estonia, Finland, parts of Germany, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Sweden) and three partner countries (Belarus, Norway and parts of Russia). Water Joint Programming Initiative — Water Resource Management
The Water JPI aims to enable transnational, collaborative research, development and innovation projects addressing questions relating to water challenges. Proposals are invited on the topic “Water resource management in support of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals”. Only proposals submitted by transnational consortia will be eligible (each consortium must be composed of at least a minimum of three eligible partners from three different countries). Eligibility extends to universities, public research institutions, private non-profit organisations, and private companies. The requested budget per proposal must not exceed € 1.5 million. Netherlands Fellowship Program — KOP Funding for Short Courses
The Netherlands Fellowship Program has started a new phase under the name KOP (Kennisontwikkelings programma). The first round of KOP offers scholarships for short courses in the Netherlands to applicants from the following countries: Albania, Armenia, Bhutan, Bolivia, Burkina Faso, Cambodia, Cuba, Djibouti, Dem Rep Congo, Georgia, India, Jordan, Lebanon, Macedonia, Mongolia, Nepal, Nicaragua, Nigeria, Pakistan, Peru, Philippines, Senegal, Somalia, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Surinam, Thailand, and Zimbabwe. The subject areas for short courses include many in agriculture and environment, among others. Applicants in participating countries study the course database to find short courses eligible for scholarships. The profile of each course identifies the application deadline and how to apply to the Dutch university, including contact information. European Commission — Support for Fisheries in Albania
The EC announces funding to assist Albania to develop the capacity of its fishery administration to design, implement, enforce, and monitor the relevant policy measures and regulations. Besides support to the fishery administration, the action includes the design and implementation of an investment grant scheme to the fishing fleet to improve its efficiency. Eligibility for funding extends to government departments and other public bodies in EU member countries related to fishing.
