The Environmental Photographer of the Year competition showcases the most inspirational environmental photography from around the world. One award of £10 thousand will be granted to a single image that furthers people’s understanding of the causes and effects of environmental change and social inequality, or highlights solutions to the climate and ecological emergency. Netherlands Organization for International Cooperation in Higher Education — Orange Knowledge Program
The Orange Knowledge Program (OKP) makes scholarships to mid-career professionals from selected developing countries for short courses (duration 2 weeks to 12 months) and master’s programs (duration 12-24 months). Eligible countries as well as eligible courses are listed in the announcement. Dubai Municipality — Dubai International Award for Best Practices
The Dubai Municipality, in collaboration with UN Habitat, offers Best Practices Awards for outstanding contributions that demonstrate valuable contributions to sustainable urban development. The five award categories include one on urban food systems, and one on addressing climate change and reducing pollution. The competition is open to governments, nonprofits, companies, universities and individuals. Total award prizes sum up to US$1 million. Teach A Man To Fish — Trash To Cash Challenge
The Trash To Cash Challenge seeks young innovators who want to launch a business which has a positive impact on the environment. The Challenge is to collect materials normally thought of as ‘trash’ or waste and create a new product with them. Then, participants have one day to sell their product and make as much cash as possible. Prizes are awarded to our most inspiring Ecopreneurs. U.S. Government — Small Grants Program to Address Plastic Pollution
The U.S. Government seeks an implementing partner to develop and manage a small grants program to increase public participation in reducing plastic pollution and improving management of plastic waste across the lifecycle of plastics. The U.S. Government welcomes applications from U.S.-based and foreign non-profit organizations, institutions of higher education, and for-profit organizations or businesses. Climate and Clean Air Coalition — Reduce short-lived Climate Pollutants
The Climate and Clean Air Coalition launches a call for opportunities to advance national policy and planning to reduce short-lived climate pollutants in 23 countries. The CCAC currently accepts proposals for projects that fulfill specific services requested by partner countries. The estimated funding amount varies by service and country. ProposalsforNGOs, an initiative by FundsforNGOs, invites applications for the “Small Grant Competition” aimed at NGOs around the world. The contest aims to help grassroots NGOs to develop a project idea to reality by submitting a one-page concept note. The winner will be awarded US$1000. U.S. Embassy Nairobi — Small Grants Program
The Ambassador’s Self-Help Fund (SSHF) provides small grants to registered self-help groups, youth groups, community based organizations, and specific types of educational institutions and medical facilities in Kenya. The Fund supports projects that assist special populations; actively protect, preserve, or restore the environment; support community water supply; or create innovative or unique income-generating activity within a community. Funding will range from US$1,000 to US$10 thousand; however, the average grant awarded is US$3,000 to US$7,000. The Embassy encourages applications from Kenya-based organizations, institutions, and individuals. They may partner with U.S.-based entities, but the grant recipient must be based in Kenya. Earth Journalism Network — Media Workshop on Covering Marine Pollution
The Earth Journalism Network (EJN) hosts a virtual media workshop (June 2023) for journalists interested in reporting on marine pollution. Journalists will have the opportunity to workshop their story ideas, network with peers and editors, and connect with thematic experts and sources for their reporting. Applicants can be from any country in the world. Applicants from coastal countries are preferred. Selected participants will be eligible to apply for a story grant. Greenovations — Incubation and Mentorship Program Africa
Greenovations Africa offers incubation and mentorship support for green entrepreneurs. The program is open to young innovators and entrepreneurs from African nationalities, aged below 35 years old, with an innovative business in an early stage in the following green sectors: Agriculture, renewable energy, waste management, water management and climate action. Participants receive tailor-made support, mentorship, as well as a seed grant funding of €3,300 to bring their innovation to market and scale. The deadline for application is 23 April 2023.
