UN-Habitat — Demonstration Center for Clean Energy in Cameroon

UN-Habitat welcomes expressions of interest to build a Multifunctional Clean Energy Centre in one of the secondary towns of Cameroon. The project will serve as a demonstration center for sustainable building design, renewable energy, and provision of sanitation service through a public toilet. UN-Habitat will contribute a maximum of US$35 thousand towards the implementation of the project. The deadline for expressions of interest from non-profit organizations (including international NGOs and governmental organizations) is 28 July 2016. Link

U.S. Department of State — Conference on Waste Management in India

The U.S. Consulate General in Mumbai seeks proposals for a project entitled “U.S.-India Conference on Waste Management.” The conference will bring together academic experts, activists, businesses, and government representatives from the USA, India, and around the world. Topics of discussion could include innovative waste management solutions; the roles of local and state governments in waste management; technological innovation; commercial opportunities in waste management; and bilateral cooperation. U.S. Department of State — Morocco Green Growth Climate Challenge

The U.S. Department of State will make one grant for approximately US$400 thousand to assist Morocco with a competition to help build capacity to mitigate the impacts of climate change through the use of clean energy and energy-efficient technologies. The challenge will feature small grants for workshops on energy technologies, public policy, and business development. Applications to manage the challenge are invited from non-profit NGOs; private, public, and state institutions of higher education; and for-profit organizations and businesses in the U.S. and elsewhere (e.g., Morocco). Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund (CEPF) — Biodiversity Conservation in Myanmar

CEPF will make grants in Myanmar to support Strategic Directions 4 and 6 for conservation of the Indo-Burma Biodiversity Hotspot.  Letters of inquiry are invited from NGOs, community groups, private companies, and other civil society organizations.  Applicants for large grants (over US$20 thousand) need to apply in English, using the template provided in the announcement. Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund (CEPF) — Small Grants for the Indo-Burma Biodiversity Hotspot

CEPF invites letters of inquiry from NGOs, community groups, private companies, and other civil society organizations for small grants (up to US$20 thousand) in all countries of the Indo-Burma Hotspot. The eligible countries are Cambodia, China, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, and Vietnam. Applicants can apply in English or in local languages (Burmese, Chinese, Khmer, Lao, Thai, or Vietnamese) using the template provided in the announcement. The closing date is 17 August 2016. Link

European Commission (EC) — Support for Fisheries and Aquaculture in Algeria

The EC will make grants to strengthen organizational and operational capacity for fisheries and aquaculture in Algeria. Eligibility for funding extends to NGOs, public agencies, local authorities, cooperatives, enterprise groups, etc., in European countries and Algeria. International organizations are also eligible. U.S. Department of State — Capacity Building for Tun Mustapha Park

The U.S. Embassy in Kuala Lumpur seeks proposals to develop a compliance assessment, conduct training, and launch pilot projects for the newly-gazetted Tun Mustapha marine park in northern Sabah, Malaysia.  Applications are invited from non-profit organizations in the USA, as well as from non-profit organizations and educational institutions in other countries (e.g., Malaysia). U.S. Department of State — Marine Protected Areas and Ocean Conservation

The U.S. Department of State will fund projects in marine protected areas and reduced nutrient pollution affecting coastal waters. Grants in Category 1 will strengthen compliance capacity for marine protected areas in the Bahamas, Belize, Honduras, and Panama. Grants in Category 2 will fund projects to more effectively manage marine protected areas in Comoros, Djibouti, Kenya, Madagascar, Mauritius, Mozambique, Seychelles, Somalia, and Tanzania. Grants in Category 3 will aim to reduce nutrient pollution in waterways, coastal waters, and the ocean. U.S. Department of State — Cleaner Production in Central America

In support of its trade agreement with the region, the U.S. government offers funding to promote cleaner production practices and technologies in micro, small, and medium enterprises of Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Panama. Eligibility for funding extends to nonprofit NGOs, limited liability companies, educational institutions, and public international organizations. MacArthur Foundation — 100 Million Dollars to Help Solve a Critical Problem

The MacArthur Foundation announces “100&Change” as a competition to award US$100 million that addresses a critical problem affecting people, places, or the planet. The competition is open to organizations working in any field of endeavor anywhere in the world. Applicants must identify the problem they are trying to solve, as well as their proposed solution. Nonprofit and for-profit organizations can apply, subject to eligibility rules. The competition will not accept applications from individuals or government agencies. Participants in the competition must register by 02 September 2016. Link
