NextWorldNow (NWN) is committed to working with community leaders who are solving difficult social problems. This includes social problems related to water, sanitation, deforestation, smallholder productivity, and food security — among other subject areas. Grants are up to US$10 thousand. To apply, community organizations submit a short “Notification of Interest” to register their intent to submit a formal grant application. West African Research Association — Residency Fellowship
The West African Research Association, (WARA) offers Residencies for WARA member institutions to host a West African Scholar on their campus. Each residency will last 4-8 weeks. WARA will pay the round-trip travel costs of the selected scholar as well as a stipend of US$3500 to help cover meals and local transportation costs. Applications must be submitted by 03 March 2024. The West African Research Association, (WARA) offers pre-doctoral fellowships. The fellowship is for 2 to 3 months of research in West Africa during summer. This competition is open to U.S. citizens who are currently enrolled in graduate programs at institutions of higher education in the United States. Photographers Without Borders — Revolutionary Storyteller Grant
The Revolutionary Storyteller Grant supports revolutionary storytellers across all fields. Five recipients will be awarded US$5,000 to support the creation of an impactful photography project, a video, and a community exhibition. iF International Forum Design GmbH — Social Impact Prize
The iF Social Impact Prize aims to publish and support design projects that contribute to solving urgent challenges and help to improve living conditions in the developing world. Solutions should already be established and help to solve well-known issues in any category of the UN Sustainable Development Goals. The best projects will share a cash prize of €100 thousand in total. Eligibility extends to non-profit organizations, companies, and foundations (student concepts will not be accepted). Lutfia Rabbani Foundation — PhD and Master’s Scholarship for the Arab World
The Mahmoud S. Rabbani Fellowship is intended for Arab Students interested in pursuing their education in The Netherlands. A maximum of €15 thousand is awarded for one year. Eligible fields of study include Agriculture, Forestry and Fishery, Environmental Sciences, Natural sciences, and others. Arab students who have been accepted into a Master’s or a Ph.D. program in the Netherlands and Dutch students who have been accepted into a Master’s or a Ph.D. program in the Arab World are eligible to apply. Marion Dönhoff Foundation — Environment and Sustainability
Through the Succow Foundation, the Marion Dönhoff Grant supports open and critical debates in the areas of environmental journalism, political ecology, and sustainable development. The program is a fellowship for post-graduates with professional experience and activists of civil society networks and groups. The target regions are post-soviet states, including the South Caucasus and Central Asia. The fellowship funds a study and work visit in Germany for up to five months. Draper Richards Kaplan Foundation — Start-up Support for Social Enterprises
The Draper Richards Kaplan Foundation supports early-stage, high-impact social enterprises and seeks projects and innovations that dramatically improve the lives of people and the world. Eligibility extends to non-profit, for-profit, and hybrid organizations in the early stages of their development that have scaling potential. The DRK investments are distributed twice a year over a three-year term, totaling $300 thousand. The Foundation has a rolling online application process throughout the year; there is no deadline. OPEC Fund for International Development — Grants
The OPEC Fund provides financial assistance to developing countries, particularly low-income countries, in support of their economic and social development efforts. OPEC will consider requests for (i) grants for country-specific activities and projects; (ii) grants for special development initiatives of global or regional scope; and (iii) emergency aid. In the past, the OPEC Fund has financed projects in agriculture, energy, health, transportation, and water and sanitation sectors. The amount of the contribution will vary according to the scope and the nature of the proposed activity. However, except for emergency aid and small grants in amounts of up to US$100 thousand, OPEC’s contribution should not exceed 50% of the total cost. Eligible partners are any government or non-government entity, including co-financing partners, private sector entities, research entities, UN agencies, and international NGOs. There is no deadline.
