The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) seeks African researchers for a new postdoc program in application-oriented research on climate change. The program supports capacity building and collaborative research activities in the following areas: Agriculture, Land Use, Biodiversity, Food Security, Marine Science, Energy, Water Security, Woodland and Forest Sustainability. The fellowship consists of a flat-rate travel allowance, research funding of up to €10 thousand, and a monthly allowance of €800. The fellowship awards are for a period of 12 to 24 months. European Commission — Sustainable Water and Natural Resources Management and Protection
The European Union Rural Development Program aims to improve agricultural production, management of natural resources, and promote sustainable and efficient use of water in Tajikistan. The goal is to enable inclusive growth and resilience to extreme climate conditions in rural communities and to improve livelihood in rural areas. The overall amount made available under this call is €15 million. Eligibility extends to non-profit organizations. The company Famae seeks innovative and concrete solutions to fight against climate change, everywhere in the world, around waste, water, food, habitat, energy and mobility. Solutions should be pragmatic, efficient, durable, and money-saving to make life easier for urban citizens while reducing their environmental footprint. Individuals, teams, businesses, government entities, universities and organizations are eligible to apply. The “Taiwan Excellence: Sharing is Caring” campaign solicits proposals for philanthropic events on issues relating to social concerns and environmental protection. The three best proposals will be awarded US$10 thousand each. The funds for executing each of the three best proposals shall be decided by the organizers, provided that the funds for implementation do not exceed US$150 thousand. World Forestry Congress – Call for Registration 2022
The XV World Forestry Congress will be held in Seoul (South Korea) from 02-06 May 2022. The congress provides the unique opportunity for the global forestry community to consider the state and future of world forestry, particularly in the context of the recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic. Participants come from all over the world and from all sectors, for example, public and private sector, NGOs, CSOs, scientific or professional bodies, and forestry societies, as well as individuals interested in forests and the environment. WFC 2022 supports participation from low-income countries by providing financial assistance to those who would otherwise be unable to participate due to financial constraints. The CIVICUS Nelson Mandela-Graça Machel Innovation Awards shed a light on the importance of people power and civil society activism in creating a more just, inclusive and sustainable world. The Mandela Washington Fellows Program provides up to US$25 thousand in funding to African-owned, sustainable social ventures. Venture must be based in and operate in Sub-Saharan Africa. International Support Network for African Development — Environmental Education Program
The International Support Network for African Development (ISNAD-Africa) seeks to implement the Environmental Education Program (EEP) to identify environmental challenges in Africa and motivate youth to develop solutions to the identified problems and needs through critical thinking and the application of previously acquired knowledge from subjects in secondary school. The program seeks to provide youth with action competencies that will enable them to develop capacity and long-term commitment to sustainability for everyday life, career engagement or voluntary service as environmentalists or influencers. Each secondary school will be represented by a team of at least five (5) students and a coordinating teacher. ISNAD-Africa will provide technical support, monthly/quarterly meetings, as well as share possible opportunities with the clubs. Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Award — Islamic Green City Excellence Award
The Islamic Green City Excellence Award is dedicated to outstanding works carried out by individuals and public as well as private institutions and organizations operating in the various fields of the environment and sustainable development. The selection of the candidate city for the Award is assessed on the basis of specific criteria, including Sustainable Energy Use, Water and Wastewater Management, Urban Forestry, Biodiversity Preservation, and Climate Change Mitigation, among others. Eligibility extends to everyone involved in environmental management and sustainable development (individuals, groups, institutions, organizations, companies, associations etc., be they public, private or non-governmental) from the Islamic countries. Tropical Forest Alliance — Tropical Forest Commodities Challenge
The Tropical Forest Alliance (TFA) and UpLink launch the Tropical Forest Commodities Challenge, calling for solutions for systemic change in commodity supply chains that rely on deforestation free practices. Solutions should deliver benefits to the global environment, while also ensuring sustainable livelihoods. Submissions may either be existing solutions with tracked success, or new entrepreneurial ideas.
