Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund (CEPF) makes small grants in support of biodiversity conservation in Indonesia with focus on the “Wallacea Biodiversity Hotspot.” Grants are in support of community-based sustainable small-scale fisheries, protection and conservation of endangered marine species, marine protected areas management, and activities that promote improved marine and coastal ecosystems. This call is for small grants of less than US$50 thousand. Eligibility for grants extends to NGOs, community groups, private enterprises, universities, and other civil society applicants. Mama Cash — Women’s Land and Resource Rights
Mama Cash makes grants in support of grassroots women’s rights groups that focus on environmental justice, for example, groups that address the exclusion of indigenous women from decision-making over their land and groups that fight for their right to water, food, and a clean, safe, and healthy environment. Grants can be used for advocacy, capacity building, public education, or forming alliances across movements. The average grant size is between €20-30 thousand per year. The European Commission (EC) aims to promote capacity development of local civil society in Gabon and São Tomé and Príncipe. The action aims to contribute to an inclusive and independent civil society which engages in decision making in the areas of economic development, environment, and food security. Applicants may request up to €300 thousand (Gabon) or €700 thousand (São Tomé and Príncipe) in project funding. The Nordic Environment Finance Corporation (NEFCO) announces the applications for Baltic Sea Action Plan (BSAP) Fund. The Baltic Sea Action Plan Fund supports projects that will benefit the ecological well being of the Baltic Sea. The fund finances new initiatives and support activities across the Baltic Sea region including Estonia, Finland, Russia, Sweden, and Belarus. The Commonwealth Secretary-General — Global Ocean Competition
The Commonwealth Secretary-General and the Commonwealth Youth Climate Change Network (CYCN) launch a global competition to inspire young people to take action on oceans. The Youth Action Challenge will award three young activists with £1,000 each for their work towards the realization of conserving and sustainably using oceans, seas and marine resources.
