Government of India — ASEAN-India Research Training Fellowship

The ASEAN-India Research Training Fellowship (AI-RTF) aims to promote cooperation in science, technology and innovation through joint research activities in environmental management, climate change adaptation, agricultural technologies, alternative energy, biodiversity, biotechnology, and others. The Fellowship provides ASEAN young researchers with the opportunity to work at an Indian research/academic institution. The duration of the Fellowship will be for a period of 2-6 months. Fellows receive full financial assistance, including international travel, accommodation, meals, and a one-time grant of up to INR 40 thousand for research expenses. Embassy of France in New Zealand — Pacific Fund 2022

The Embassy of France in New Zealand seeks projects that contribute to economic, social, cultural and scientific cooperation with New Caledonia, French Polynesia, Wallis and Futuna. Projects must fall under at least one of the following categories: fight against climate change and risk management for natural disasters; economic and industrial projects (feasibility study, training actions, etc.); food security (e.g., fishery management, etc.). Projects must be jointly financed for at least 50% of the total project budget. Projects have to be submitted by a New Zealand partner and must involve at least one local project partner. Nikkei Inc. — Innovation from Asia

The “Innovation from Asia” award focuses on novel and innovative activities started in Asia, and led by people from and living in Asia, creating a free and prosperous society by revitalizing the region and improving lives. Activities in fields such as business, research, technological development and social/artistic activities by an individual or a group can be submitted. The prize is 5 million yen. Islamic Development Bank — Empowering Youth for a Greener Future

The Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) invites youth-led non-profit organizations to propose new and innovative green ideas and solutions that will support training processes for young people living in post-crisis situations. The “Youth Green Skills Accelerator Challenge” seeks to equip youths (15-35 years old) living in Islamic States with the competencies required for supporting a just transition in their communities. Up to 10 finalists will receive mentoring and training for a period of one week to improve their projects. The top three ideas will be awarded US$50 thousand, US$30 thousand, and US$20 thousand respectively, to implement the proposed solution. Ideas must be submitted no later than 28 July 2023. International Union for Conservation of Nature — Sustainable Environments

The Resilient, Inclusive and Sustainable Environments (RISE) Grant Program supports strategies to prevent gender-based violence in the context of natural resource access and control. For that purpose, RISE seeks partnerships between environmental organizations, Indigenous Peoples’ organizations, local and grassroots communities. RISE seeks to fund up to six projects in the range of US$100 thousand to US$300 thousand each. Projects must be implemented in Central America and the Caribbean, Eastern and Southern Africa, or South and Southeast Asia. ASEAN Centre for Energy — ASEAN Energy Youth Awards 2022

The ASEAN Centre for Energy (ACE) announces the ASEAN Energy Youth Awards (AEYA) in recognition of young students’ valuable contribution to sustainable development and energy transition. The theme of the 3rd award is “Accelerating Energy Transition towards Economic Recovery and Sustainable Growth.” The winners and runners-up will be invited to the 40th of ASEAN Ministers on Energy Meeting in September 2022 and receive small cash prizes. Asia Pacific Forum on Women, Law and Development — Sustainable Development Goals Monitoring

The Asia Pacific Forum on Women, Law and Development (APWLD) invites women’s rights and feminist organizations to apply for sub-grants. APWLD will support up to 8 organizations to do monitoring of the SDGs implementation in their country. The aim is to develop the capacity of feminist movements and women’s rights organizations to conduct evidence-based advocacy for the monitoring and review of the Sustainable Development Goals. APWLD will provide each partner organization with a sub-grant of between US$15 thousand to US$18 thousand. Applicants should be non-profit women’s rights and/or women-led organizations from countries in the Asia Pacific region. Interested organizations should submit their application before 07 June 2022. Government of Norway — Small Grants Program on Plastic Waste

The Small Grant Program on Plastic Waste seeks to improve the management of plastic waste and contribute towards preventing and significantly reducing marine pollution. The Program seeks to identify and implement low-cost high impact pilot projects on the ground. Selected projects will seek to enhance capacities in partner countries to implement and enforce the Basel Convention and manage plastic waste in an environmentally sound manner. Budgets range from US$65 thousand to US$180 thousand. The projects will benefit countries in Asia-Pacific, Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean, and Central and Eastern Europe. International Development Research Centre — Climate Adaptation and Resilience

The International Development Research Centre (IDRC) announces a call for concept notes under the Climate Adaptation and Resilience (CLARE) initiative. CLARE supports research to enable socially inclusive and sustainable action to build resilience to climate change and natural hazards across Africa and Asia-Pacific. There are two sizes of funding available. Smaller projects for grants up to C$1.5 million, and larger projects for grants between C$6-8 million. This funding opportunity is open to transdisciplinary research teams working in eligible countries in Africa and Asia-Pacific. The application deadline is 07 June 2022. Link to CLARE

U.S. Department of State — Indigenous People’s Finance Access Facility

The U.S. Department of State announces a funding opportunity for the Indigenous People’s Finance Access Facility (IPFAF). The purpose of this project is to support Indigenous Peoples’ increased access to results-based finance for the conservation, restoration, and improved management of forests. The project will support Indigenous Peoples’ in the Amazon basin, Congo Basin, and Southeast Asia with up to US$1,9 million.
