The Government of India and the European Union seek applications for collaborative research & innovation projects carried out by consortia of organizations working together on research & innovation in areas of AI, electric energy storage solutions; zero emission vehicles; and biofuels. Any legal entity/organization (public or private research institute/university) established in India or the European Union with expertise in relevant and distinct disciplines is eligible to apply. GSMA Innovation Fund for Anticipatory Humanitarian Action seeks to help accelerate the testing, adoption and scalability of digital innovations that leverage mobile digital technology to help anticipate potential humanitarian impacts and enable effective early response. Successful projects will receive an equity-free grant of between £100 thousand and £250 thousand to scale their innovation over a 15 to 18 month period. The Energy Transition Facility (ETF) aims to support countries in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA region) with their transition to a more sustainable energy supply. National governments can request advice and the Netherlands Enterprise Agency will decide how to best support the proposal, plan or idea. Proposals and requests for government-to-government collaboration can be submitted by governments and government partners in Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Mozambique, the Palestinian Territories, Tanzania, and Tunisia. The Student Energy Summit announces a video contest focused on the theme “Reimagining the Future with Renewable Energy.” The winners of the video contest will receive fully-funded participation in the Student Energy Summit 2023 in Abu Dhabi (November 2023). Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy and the United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) launch the “Universities for Goal 13” student competition. The competition engages students in the fight against climate change. The winning solution will be awarded US$10 thousand in prize money for further development and implementation. The Competition is open to all undergraduate and graduate students currently enrolled in the universities that are participating in the contest. The Milken-Motsepe Prize in Green Energy is a global competition to reward entrepreneurs and innovators working to address the most pressing and immediate challenges related to access to green, renewable energy. Registration is free and open to anyone, with a US$1 million grand prize available for the winning team, and US$1 million in additional prizes. Teams from anywhere in the world can register and submit designs and business models. An independent panel of expert judges will select semi-finalist teams to receive US$20 thousand each. Connect4Climate invites young professionals to apply to the 2023 Max Thabiso Edkins Climate Ambassador Program (MTECAP). The MTECAP is a six-month online program that offers a mix of technical and hands-on sessions providing young ambassadors with in-depth knowledge to implement meaningful climate action both in their communities and globally. The UNICEF Venture Fund provides up to US$100 thousand in equity-free investments to provide seed funding to for-profit technology start-ups developing software solutions using frontier technologies for climate action. The “Boosting Resilience and Adaptation to Climate Change (BREACH)” program has the objective to increase systemic resilience to climate change and food crises in Somalia. The European Commission calls for proposals that improve prevention of and preparedness for food crises in communities in vulnerable situations, achieve durable solutions to displacement, and combat the climate crisis through reforestation and land restoration.
