The TWAS Research Grants Programme for Interdisciplinary Research supports interdisciplinary research projects in developing countries, particularly those that lack access to appropriate research facilities. The Mastercard Foundation provides economically disadvantaged young people in Ghana and Africa with access to university education. The Scholars Program at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science & Technology (Ghana) provides financial support (tuition, accommodation, learning materials, transportation, and monthly stipend) for studies in all subject areas; however, there is a preference for science students (including agriculture and natural resources). The OPEC Fund provides financial assistance to developing countries, particularly low-income countries, in support of their economic and social development efforts. OPEC will consider requests for (i) grants for country-specific activities and projects; (ii) grants for special development initiatives of global or regional scope; and (iii) emergency aid. In the past, the OPEC Fund has financed projects in agriculture, energy, health, transportation, and water and sanitation sectors. The amount of the contribution will vary according to the scope and the nature of the proposed activity. However, except for emergency aid and small grants in amounts of up to US$100 thousand, OPEC’s contribution should not exceed 50% of the total cost. Eligible partners are any government or non-government entity, including co-financing partners, private sector entities, research entities, UN agencies, and international NGOs. There is no deadline. The Inter-American Foundation (IAF) makes grants to non-governmental and community-based organizations in Latin America and the Caribbean to raise the living conditions of disadvantaged populations, and to advance other social goals. The Foundation’s grant-making interests include grassroots projects in agriculture; clean water and sanitation; community conservation; and local management of natural resources (forests, fisheries, etc.). The BKCF invites project proposals for its 5th grant cycle, aiming to promote inclusive and balanced growth in Southeast Asia and contribute to ASEAN Connectivity. Priority sectors include environment (e.g., climate mitigation and adaptation), tourism (e.g., ecotourism), connectivity (e.g., green transport), and agriculture and fisheries (e.g., food security). Eligible applicants are government agencies, public sector institutes, academic and research institutes, NGOs, private sector entities, or other autonomous institutes from Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, and the Republic of Korea. Individuals are not eligible. Grants range from US$100 thousand to US$500 thousand for 1-year projects and US$200 thousand to US$500 thousand for 2-year projects, with a maximum of US$250 thousand per country for multi-country projects. The West African Research Association, (WARA) offers Residencies for WARA member institutions to host a West African Scholar on their campus. Each residency will last 4-8 weeks. WARA will pay the round-trip travel costs of the selected scholar as well as a stipend of US$3500 to help cover meals and local transportation costs.
