The Africa Earth Observation Challenge (AEO Challenge) is an open innovation competition aimed at fostering African early‑stage businesses across all sectors that leverage Earth Observation data to tackle pressing development challenges—such as climate change, agriculture, disaster risk reduction, natural resource monitoring, sustainable development, and healthcare. Eligible applicants must be based anywhere in Africa. The British Council’s Research Environments Collaboration Grants support joint research initiatives between a UK lead institution and a partner institution in Brazil, Morocco, Pakistan, or Peru. Funding ranges from £25 thousand to £40 thousand per project to establish new or significantly enhance existing collaborations that strengthen research capacity and foster sustainable, long-term academic links. The Ye! Youth Ecopreneur Program welcomes young entrepreneurs to submit their green business initiatives. The program includes a global boot camp, and accelerator phase, and concludes with the celebrated Youth Ecopreneur Awards. The winner of the Youth Ecopreneur Award receives US$10 thousand in prize money. The Africa Think Tank Platform (ATTP) invites consortia of three to five legally registered African think tanks—with representation from at least two African sub‑regions—to submit proposals for multi‑year funding (~US $10 million per consortium over up to 2½ years). The call supports policy‑relevant, collaborative research addressing at least four of the six priority themes: (economic transformation and governance; climate change; regional trade; food security; human capital; digitalization. The Prince Talal International Prize for Human Development supports efforts aiming at the promotion and enhancement of human development concepts. The objective is to highlight innovative experiences and continuously support distinguished efforts in various fields of development. The 2025 Prize honors projects and initiatives in line with SDG 7 “Affordable and Clean Energy”. Prizes range from US$100 thousand to US$400 thousand. Projects implemented by UN agencies, international or regional NGOs, governmental bodies, social business enterprises, and individuals are eligible. Commonwealth Professional Fellowships support mid-career professionals from developing Commonwealth countries to make professional visits (typically of three months) with UK host organizations. Applications are invited in the thematic area of clean energy, air, and oceans. Fellows must be Commonwealth citizens, refugees, or British-protected persons — and they must be permanent residents in a developing Commonwealth country. The Earth Journalism Network (EJN) offers a four-day virtual workshop aimed at business and finance journalists from Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, and Thailand to strengthen their climate-focused reporting on corporate accountability, green finance, and sustainable solutions. The training covers net-zero strategies, greenwashing detection, inclusive transitions, and more, and includes an opportunity to apply for a story grant post-workshop. It’s open to journalists working in any medium (print, online, TV, radio), with preference given to women, rural, Indigenous, early- and mid-career professionals.
