The Global Challenges Research Fund (GCRF) will invest up to £9.3 million in demonstration-stage projects of commercial products and solutions that have the potential to transform lives in developing countries. The project must be relevant to one of 10 Sustainable Development Goals listed in the announcement, including SDG 6: Clean Water and Sanitation; SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities; SDG 13: Climate Action; SDG 14: Life below Water; SDG 15: Life on Land. The maximum grant award per project is £60 thousand. The lead applicant must be a UK business and will distribute any funding to international (non-UK) partners. One priority area is Sustainable and Green Development (Lot 3) in terms of climate change adaptation, environmental protection and sustainable management of local resources. The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) offers scholarships for master and doctorate students to expand their training in Germany. Eligibility extends to Costa Rican university professors (max. 38 years of age) graduated from the University of Costa Rica (UCR ), Technological Institute of Costa Rica (TEC), University National (UNA), or the Distance State University (UNED). Scientists and researchers are invited to submit proposals for joint research projects in the following areas: Green Mobility, Engineering Sciences, Materials Science & Technology, and Renewable Energy. The Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative (YSEALI) is a professional development exchange for community leaders from ASEAN countries in the fields of civic engagement, NGO management, economic empowerment, governance, legislative process, and environmental and natural resources management. The Program will bring at least 200 emerging leaders, ages 25-35, from Southeast Asia to the United States to participate in leadership and professional development activities. The Intra-Africa Academic Mobility Scheme is a joint program coordinated by the EC with the African Union Commission to increase the availability of qualified high-level professionals in Africa. The program enables post-graduate students, academics, and university staff to benefit from the experience gained in the context of mobility to another African country. Applications are invited from African higher education institutions, working in coordination with one EU technical partner. The European Commission seeks to support civil society organizations as actors of governance in order to contribute to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The EC will provide financial assistance to inequality initiatives in Latin America and the Caribbean, Africa, and Asia-Pacific. Each region has specifically defined program priorities, including income and wealth inequality, land rights, access to natural resources such as water for agriculture. Any requested contribution under this call for proposals must be €3.6 million. Eligibility extends to non-profit organizations established in the European Union or the developing countries outlined in the call for proposals. Examples of thematic areas include sustainable agriculture; clean air, water, and sanitation; renewable energy and materials; addressing environmental shocks and long-term environmental changes; and others. Grantseekers may request up to £25 thousand in project support. Both UK and international research organisations (universities, public laboratories, or nonprofit organisations) can be research partners and receive funds.
