Carrefour Foundation — Food Transition

Carrefour Foundation invites applications to “Together for the Food Transition”. The program supports local nonprofit organizations to develop sustainable agriculture, zero-food waste or nutritional education projects. Organizations located in Argentina, Brazil, Belgium, Spain, Italy, Poland, Romania and Taiwan can apply. One organization in each country will be rewarded €30 thousand. Earth Journalism Network — Media Workshop in India

The Earth Journalism Network (EJN) invites journalists from India to apply for a media workshop on covering pathways to Net Zero, to be held in Kolkata (February 2023). The workshop will help journalists improve their understanding of the energy transition, and learn how to report more effectively on climate change. The workshop is open to journalists from print, television, online and/or radio. EJN will bear the travel, accommodation, and meal costs of selected participants. Global Biodiversity Information Facility — Data Papers on Freshwater Species

GBIF and the open-access Journal of Limnology announce a call for researchers to submit data papers about species that inhabit the world’s inland waters. To assist efforts to fill gaps in primary biodiversity data on freshwater species, GBIF will sponsor the article processing charges (normally €624) for the first sixteen manuscripts accepted by the Journal. Earth Journalism Network — Stop Spillover Media Grants

The Earth Journalism Network (EJN) offers grants to media organizations to support capacity-building activities for media and journalists related to understanding and preventing zoonotic viral spillover. EJN is particularly interested in projects that help journalists use data and the latest scientific research in their reporting. Applications are open to traditional news media, broadcast media, development media, new media and independent media outlets from the following countries: Liberia, Sierra Leone, Côte d’Ivoire, Bangladesh, Cambodia and Vietnam. The Earth Journalism Network expects to award three organizations with up to US$10 thousand each in funding. The application deadline is 09 January 2023. Stop Spillover Media Grants

Endangered Landscapes Programme — Restoring Endangered Landscapes

The Endangered Landscapes Programme (ELP) invites expressions of interest from organizations and partnerships for the Landscape Restoration Grant. The program supports landscapes and seascapes restoration in areas that are ecologically degraded, fragmented, disconnected, missing key species and vulnerable to climate change. The maximum grant amount projects can apply for is €100 thousand. The program welcomes applications for smaller amounts. Each team must identify a Lead Partner who will take responsibility for the project. Lead partners must be not-for-profit organizations. The deadline for expressions of interest is 03 February 2023. Wellcome Trust — Early-Career Research Awards

The Wellcome Trust supports bold and creative discovery research that has the potential to improve human life, health and wellbeing. The Early-Career Awards provide funding for early-career researchers from any discipline who are ready to develop their research identity through innovative projects. Research can be in any discipline, including STEM, experimental medicine, or climate – as long as it has the potential to improve human life. The Trust covers the researcher’s salary and up to £400 thousand for research expenses. The applicant’s host organization has to be based in the UK, Republic of Ireland, a low- or middle-income country (apart from India and mainland China). Earth Journalism Network — Media Workshop: Indigenous Environmental Reporting

The Earth Journalism Network (EJN) invites Indigenous journalists from around the world to apply for a two-day media workshop (Kenya, February 2023). The workshop will explain the importance of Indigenous environmental reporting and build valuable journalistic skills to help participants strengthen their reporting and storytelling skills. The workshop is open to Indigenous journalists from any country interested in covering Indigenous environmental issues. Australian Government — Direct Aid Program Papua New Guinea

The Australian Government seeks applications for its Direct Aid Program (DAP) in Papua New Guinea. The small grants program supports small-scale sustainable development projects and activities in the fields of water and sanitation, environmental protection, food security, scientific research, and others. Eligibility extends to community groups, NGOs and academic institutions engaged in development activities on a not-for-profit basis. Expressions of interest have to be submitted by 28 October 2022. Global Agriculture and Food Security Program — Recovery of Agriculture and Food Systems

The Global Agriculture and Food Security Program (GAFSP) announces a call for proposals for programs and projects that strengthen agriculture and lessen food insecurity in low-income countries. The program will support medium- to long-term COVID-19 response efforts for a more sustainable, inclusive, and resilient recovery of agriculture and food systems in a changing climate. GAFSP intends to fund 5-8 proposals for a total of at least US$175 million. Applications (English and French) are invited from governments in the 56 member countries of the International Development Association in East Asia and the Pacific; South Asia; Eastern and Central Europe; the Middle East; Africa; and Latin America.
