The call seeks to enhance law enforcement and justice sector efforts to counter wildlife trafficking, ultimately helping to disrupt wildlife trafficking operations, and removing opportunities for criminal organizations to profit from illicit proceeds derived from the wildlife trade. Slovak Republic — Slovak Government Scholarships 2023-2024
As part of its program of official development assistance, the Slovak Republic annually awards scholarships to support qualified international students for studies at Slovak universities. The fields of study include ecological and environmental sciences; agriculture, forestry, and veterinary medicine; water resources management; and several others. Eligible countries for scholarships are Afghanistan, Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Kenya, Kosovo, Moldova, Mongolia, Palestinian Territories, Ukraine, and Vietnam. IBM — Global Water Management Solutions
IBM launches a request for proposals to help accelerate global water management solutions for vulnerable populations. IBM will support projects that can help improve access to safe drinking water for all, improve water quality by reducing pollution, increase water-use efficiency, protect and restore water-related ecosystems, increase sanitation management, and reduce the number of people suffering from water scarcity. Nonprofit and governmental organizations are eligible to apply. IBM provides organizations with credits for IBM Cloud and IBM Environmental Intelligence Suite Data APIs as well as technical mentorship to advance the initiative. European Development Fund — Sustainable Cooking Solutions Tanzania
EuropeAid aims to promote sustainable forest management and wood-fuel production in rural areas with an overall aim of enhancing environmental sustainability, in particular the sustainability of the wood-fuel value chain. European Development Fund funds projects that combat the illegal clearing of forests for charcoal production and formalize the charcoal value chain so that producers and traders are legally recognized as legal business entities. Grants under this call range from €1,5 to 2.5 million. The European Commission seeks to increase the capacity of civil society, youth organizations, farmers’ organizations and local authorities as drivers of local development. The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) seeks opportunities to co-create, and collaborate in the research, testing and scaling of innovative solutions that will advance climate action with a focus on girls’ education. Halcyon — Food & Agtech in Africa
Halcyon supports African entrepreneurs with innovative solutions that can improve the livelihoods of farmers while increasing access to quality food for the most vulnerable. The Food & Agtech Fellowship will be delivered in a hybrid modality, with three virtual meetings, a one week in-person residency at Halcyon and a one week in-person residency in Nairobi. Participants receive US$5 thousand per venture equity-free stipend to use toward travel expenses to attend the residencies, a one week long residency at Halcyon’s facilities in Washington, DC (USA), and a one week long residency in Nairobi (Kenya).
