U.S. Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs — Youth Ambassadors Program 2022

The U.S. Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs seeks applications from U.S. public and private non-profit organizations to deliver the Youth Ambassadors Program 2022. The Youth Ambassadors program supports youth empowerment and development by equipping exchange participants from foreign countries with the knowledge and skills to become active and responsible members of their communities. The program includes a three-week exchange for high school youth (ages 15- 18) focused on social inclusion, entrepreneurship, countering disinformation, and environmental protection. Participants engage in a variety of activities such as workshops, training activities and community site visits. The Bureau intends to award a cooperative agreement for an estimated total amount of US$10,2 million. The closing date for applications is 14 March 2022. Know more

Children’s Climate Foundation — Children’s Climate Prize

The Children’s Climate Prize invites innovative and groundbreaking ideas and solutions on the issue of climate change. The prize is awarded to children aged 12-17 who have made extraordinary efforts for the climate and environment. The winners will be invited to Sweden and receive prize money of SEK 100 thousand to continue to develop their projects. Individuals, groups or organizations can nominate themselves or be nominated by someone else. Nominations from all over the world are welcome. The deadline is 15 May 2022. United Nations — Human Rights to Water and Sanitation

The OHCHR Human Rights Youth Challenge invites youth aged between 16 – 24 to produce and submit a video on: “the human rights to water and sanitation of peoples living close to nature”. Videos and digital content may focus on, but not limited to, indigenous peoples, peasants, farmers, fisherfolks, hunters and gatherers, livestock rearers, and traders. The winner will be invited to speak at a side-event of the UN Human Rights Council in September 2022. The deadline for submission is 15 February 2022. 5th Human Rights Youth Challenge

UNDP Africa — Sahel Innovate Challenge

The United Nations Development Programme in Africa (UNDP Africa) seeks youth from the Sahel Region willing to pitch their innovative solutions to a panel of judges at the YouthConnekt Sahel Forum. UNDP Africa is interested in innovative ideas from a broad range of topics, including agroforestry and climate change mitigation/adaptation, driving the region’s transformation. Participants have to be 35 or younger and be a national of Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Chad, The Gambia, Guinea, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Nigeria, or Senegal. The CIVICUS Nelson Mandela-Graça Machel Innovation Awards shed a light on the importance of people power and civil society activism in creating a more just, inclusive and sustainable world. The Awards will recognize seven individuals, groups or organizations that stand out for their innovative work building people power in support of human rights and social justice for everyone. Each winning initiative will receive a US$5 thousand prize. The Awards are open to any individual, organization or group in Asia, Africa, Latin America, the Caribbean, and Pacific. International Support Network for African Development — Environmental Education Program

The International Support Network for African Development (ISNAD-Africa) seeks to implement the Environmental Education Program (EEP) to identify environmental challenges in Africa and motivate youth to develop solutions to the identified problems and needs through critical thinking and the application of previously acquired knowledge from subjects in secondary school. The program seeks to provide youth with action competencies that will enable them to develop capacity and long-term commitment to sustainability for everyday life, career engagement or voluntary service as environmentalists or influencers. Each secondary school will be represented by a team of at least five (5) students and a coordinating teacher. ISNAD-Africa will provide technical support, monthly/quarterly meetings, as well as share possible opportunities with the clubs. Up to US$500 funding for the implementation of your project idea for all selected teams. Deadline for applications is 15 October 2021. Details here
