ISEKI-Food Association — Food Biodiversity Student Competition

The 2020 Food Factory-4-Us Sustainable Supply Chain International Student Competition seeks great ideas for valorizing food biodiversity. The competition is open to Master’s students enrolled in a food study program in any country. Participants have to form teams of 3-5 students, get a faculty mentor and present a project proposal. Each team will have access to online trainings. The winning team will receive an award of €300 and be invited to the NextFOOD Project Meeting in 2021. The deadline for submissions is 07 October 2020. Climate Tracker — Scholarship for Journalists (Chile)

Climate Tracker offers a 3-month paid fellowship to environmental and climate journalists from Chile. Fellows are expected to cover Energy and Climate Change issues and publish at least two articles in national media. Selected fellows receive online training, mentorship and a US$150 stipend per month for the duration of their fellowship. Eligibility for this opportunity extends to young journalists (between the age of 18-35 years) living in Chile.The deadline for applications is 04 September 2020. Click here

International Renewable Energy Agency — Youth Video Contest

The International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) announces a youth video contest focused on the theme ‘Renewable Energy in the Time of COVID-19: Youth Actions for Recovery.’ The winner will get a chance to participate at the IRENA Youth Forum (January 2021) and gain media exposure. Video submissions must address ideas on ‘Renewable Energy in times of COVID-19’ in 60 seconds or less. The competition is open to participants up 30 years old from all over the world. AFS — Global Citizen Prize for Young Leaders

The AFS award invites applications for the Global Citizen Prize for Young Leaders. One young person will be recognized for their commitment to improving the global community by tackling one or more of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The winner will receive a US$10 thousand cash prize. AFS Prize is open worldwide for contestants ages 13 to 30. Exempt countries are listed in the announcement. Applications close on 28 July 2020. Regional Universities Forum for Capacity Building in Agriculture — Graduate Teaching Assistantships

RUFORUM’s program for Graduate Training Assistantships (GTA) grants support for 325 PhD training opportunities during the next four years. The GTA aims to improve the quality of higher education and increase the pool of PhD academic staff in RUFORUM’s member universities by facilitating cross-university PhD studies and teaching. Applicants need to be nominated for PhD training by his/her university. RUFORUM Secretariat assists in facilitating placement of the nominated staff to universities with the appropriate fields of the required training. The GTA accepts rolling applications (no deadline). Online Turf — Scholarship for Agriculture & Horticulture Students

Online Turf offers £500 for full time education of an agricultural or horticultural subject field. Eligibility extends to students enrolled full time in an agricultural or horticultural course in university or college. The scholarship is not restricted to any nationality, but applicants must study and reside in the UK. The submission deadline is 30 September 2020. Find out more

WIN WIN Award — Youth Award

The international WIN WIN Youth Award seeks applications from young people between the age 13 to 29 who play an active role in the creation of a more sustainable future. The 2020 award theme is Biodiversity, therefore, applicants are invited to submit ongoing projects, work, or initiatives linked to biodiversity conservation. The winner of the WIN WIN Youth Award will receive SEK20 thousand at the award ceremony in Gothenburg, Sweden (October 2020). The award will cover travel expenses for the winner and one more person. One Young World — Entrepreneur of the Year Award

The One Young World Summit seeks startups and entrepreneurs with solutions to the world’s most pressing issues, including climate change and the challenges of globalization. Applicants can be of any nationality but must be between 18-35 years old. Five winners will receive a fully funded trip to participate in the One Young World Summit in Munich (Germany) in October 2020. United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification — UNCCD Land Heroes Contest

UNCCD invites young changemakers to participate in a social media campaign trending under #UNCCDLandHeroes and #FoodFeedFibre. Participants are invited to submit a short text with a photo or video proposing specific solution to limit the footprint that current production and consumption of food, feed and fibre leave on the land. The contest is open to youth (15-30 years old) worldwide. A US$500 cash price will be awarded to one of participating UNCCD Land Heroes. The deadline to participate is 15 May 2020. Merlin Trust — Study Travel Grant for Horticulturists

The Merlin Trust offers travel grants to young horticulturists. The Trust offers up to £1500 to individual applicants to assist with foreign or domestic travel projects. Foreign citizens may apply but must be studying in a British or Irish horticultural training establishment. Eligibility extends to young horticulturists aged between 18 and 34. Submissions are considered on a rolling basis. (Note: Applications have to be submitted at least three months from the application submission date to the date of departure.) About study travel grants
