European Energy Community — Summer School 2017

The Energy Community aims to extend the EU internal energy market to South East Europe and beyond. The Secretariat of the Energy Community announces the 2nd Energy Community Summer School that will take place in FYR of Macedonia in August-September 2017. The Secretariat welcomes applications from postgraduate students, researchers in energy-related disciplines, and young professionals from government institutions, companies, think tanks, and NGOs in the region of the Energy Community. The non-EU members of the Energy Community include Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Kosovo, FYR of Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Serbia, Ukraine, and Turkey. Participation is free, including tuition and accommodation costs. However, travel costs are borne by the participants. The application deadline is 31 March 2017. Link

Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research — Grants for Conferences, Workshops, Seminars, and Field Days

ACIAR offers sponsorship assistance to individuals wishing to attend a conference, seminar, workshop or field day that directly benefits agricultural research for development. ACIAR also supports organisations seeking sponsorships for this same objective. The priority is for events and sponsorships in ACIAR partner countries and related to ACIAR projects. However, direct involvement in an ACIAR project is not a prerequisite to apply for funding. The application deadlines are the first Wednesday of April and the last Wednesday of October in each calendar year. Link

Western Indian Ocean Marine Science Association — Travel Grants to Participate in 10th Symposium

The Western Indian Ocean Marine Science Association (WIOMSA), in partnership with collaborating institutions in Tanzania, announces the 10th WIOMSA Scientific Symposium to be held in Dar es Salaam in October-November 2017. Abstracts are invited on any topic related to the coastal and marine environment of the West Indian Ocean. WIOMSA will provide a limited number of travel grants to regional participants whose abstracts have been accepted, with priority for students. The deadline to submit abstracts is 28 April 2017. The deadline to apply for travel grants is 31 July 2017. Link

U.S. Department of State — Conference on Waste Management in India

The U.S. Consulate General in Mumbai seeks proposals for a project entitled “U.S.-India Conference on Waste Management.” The conference will bring together academic experts, activists, businesses, and government representatives from the USA, India, and around the world. Topics of discussion could include innovative waste management solutions; the roles of local and state governments in waste management; technological innovation; commercial opportunities in waste management; and bilateral cooperation. The available funding is from US$150 thousand to US$175 thousand to an institution of higher education or a nonprofit NGO. Funding Opportunity M-NOFO-16-103. U.S. Department of State — Youth Debates in India on Climate Change

The North India Office of the U.S. Embassy New Delhi invites program proposals for a series of university-level youth debates on climate change and related environmental issues. The aim is to raise awareness about the complex conversations in this subject among college youth in the Indian states and territories of Delhi, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, and Uttar Pradesh. The U.S. government will make one grant for between US$50 thousand to US$70 thousand to an institution of higher education or a nonprofit NGO. Funding Opportunity ND-NOFO-16-105. U.S. Department of State — Morocco Green Growth Climate Challenge

The U.S. Department of State will make one grant for approximately US$400 thousand to assist Morocco with a competition to help build capacity to mitigate the impacts of climate change through the use of clean energy and energy-efficient technologies. The challenge will feature small grants for workshops on energy technologies, public policy, and business development. Applications to manage the challenge are invited from non-profit NGOs; private, public, and state institutions of higher education; and for-profit organizations and businesses in the U.S. and elsewhere (e.g., Morocco). British Council — Workshop Grants for Researchers

The Researcher Links Workshops bring together early-career researchers from the UK and partner countries to allow them to make international connections that can improve the quality of their research. The current call is for bilateral workshops of 3-5 days between the UK and Russia. Proposals must be joint applications, with one coordinator based at a UK institution and one based in Russia. The application deadline is 19 September 2016. Link

British Council — Research Workshops

The British Council announces workshops that convene UK researchers with partners in other countries. Among the workshops that have deadlines beyond the date of this posting are: Kazakhstan, low-carbon energy (deadline 15 July 2016); India, water purification (deadline 15 July 2016); Brazil, water/sanitation/energy (deadline 15 July 2016); Brazil, renewable energy (deadline 22 July 2016); Kazakhstan, mineral resources (deadline 22 July 2016); Brazil, legal aspects of agricultural technology (deadline 29 July 2016); and Kazakhstan, agricultural innovation (deadline 11 September 2016). AuthorAID — Travel Grants and Workshop Grants for Researchers in Developing Countries

AuthorAID announces its second round of small grants in 2016 to support researchers in developing countries with travel and workshops. In this second round, AuthorAID plans to award six travel grants (US$1,500 each) and six workshop grants (US$2,500 each). AuthorAID posts the list of eligible developing countries. The deadline to apply for travel grants is 17 July 2016. The deadline to apply for workshop grants is 27 July 2016. Link

Global Climate Change Alliance — Global Learning Event in Support of COP21

The European Commission announces its global event, “Innovative and Effective Approaches to Climate Change Adaptation and Other Post-COP21 Agreement Priorities,” scheduled for three days in September 2016. The event in Brussels will explore how experience on the ground influences policy development and vice-versa through discussion of four specific topics. The conference organizers invite proposals on these topics from EU Delegation representatives; implementing partners; governmental bodies; and non-state actors from academia, NGOs, and the private sector. Travel support will be provided to selected presenters, subject to individual arrangements. The deadline for one-page concept notes is 15 June 2016.  Link
