The call seeks to enhance law enforcement and justice sector efforts to counter wildlife trafficking, ultimately helping to disrupt wildlife trafficking operations, and removing opportunities for criminal organizations to profit from illicit proceeds derived from the wildlife trade. UK Government — Darwin Plus for British Overseas Territories
The Darwin Initiative contributes knowledge that links biodiversity conservation and poverty reduction in low and middle-income countries. Darwin Plus Fellowships aim to build capacity within the UK Overseas Territories through training opportunities. There are two different budget templates for projects requesting over and under £100 thousand. The Project Leader can be based in any country. However, all Darwin Plus projects are expected to seek in-territory partners. Projects led by in-territory partners/organizations are encouraged. The Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation (PA2F) funds and promotes activities for the protection, conservation, and awareness of the Pelagos Sanctuary with a specific focus on biodiversity conservation, and climate action. PA2F encourages submissions of projects that may include knowledge acquisition, conservation, and restoration measures, lobbying/advocacy, or awareness-raising projects. The Atlantis Atlas Project (AAP) contributes to the conservation, sustainability, and environmental educational initiatives of marine wildlife. Projects must contribute to the long-term survival of species in natural ecosystems, advance conservation practices that can be applied to animals in their natural ecosystems, enhance understanding of social and environmental responsibility, or develop new ways to reduce environmental impacts. University of St. Andrews — St. Andrews Prize for the Environment 2024
The annual St Andrews Prize for the Environment recognizes significant contributions to environmental conservation in the developing world. The subject areas include human-animal conflicts; water and biodiversity; sanitation; air quality; solar power; food supply; waste and recycling; environmental justice; and others. Applications are invited from individuals, multi-disciplinary teams, and community groups. Research projects will not be considered. The Prize consists of an award of US$100 thousand and a medal. Mongabay Africa offers an Environmental Reporting Fellowship in French for journalism on the continent. The program provides opportunities for journalists from biodiversity hotspots in low- and middle-income income tropical countries to report on critical environmental issues. American Society of Primatologists — Conservation Grants 2024
The American Society of Primatologists (ASP) supports students and young researchers from habitat countries who are engaged in primate conservation. Grant proposals are invited for either captive or wild primate-oriented research projects. Applications for start-up funds, supplementary funding for students, and innovations in animal care and research technology are welcome. Award amounts range from US$500 to US$1500. The Young Champions of the Earth honors young people from around the world with outstanding ideas to protect and restore the environment. UNEP seeks ideas and solutions that showcase nature’s potential in addressing the triple planetary crisis of climate change, biodiversity loss, and pollution and waste. The winner receives US$20 thousand in seed funding. Eligibility extends to young environmentalists with at least 6 months of experience in protecting or restoring the environment. Lush makes grants through a Charity Pot to small grassroots organizations for projects in environment, animal protection, and human rights.
