CRDF Global — Travel Grants for U.S. Early-Career Scientists

CRDF Global announces the 2017 Catalyzing New Research Partnerships Program. The program aims to catalyze new international research collaborations for U.S. early-career scientists with partners in South and Southeastern Asia; Latin America: and West Africa. The subject areas of interest are biological sciences; geosciences; and others. CRDF will make travel grants up to US$10 thousand for U.S. early-career scientists residing and working in the USA to lay the foundation for new international research partnerships in the priority regions. UN-Habitat — Conference on Cities and Climate Change Science

UN-Habitat and its partners are sponsoring a conference in Canada, scheduled for March 2018, on the subject of cities and the science of climate change. The conference will assess the current state of academic and practice-based knowledge about climate change, identifying gaps and sharing best practices. The conference organizers welcome proposals for events and abstracts for oral sessions. The conference has limited funding available to support the travel of selected applicants from developing countries. Additional funds may be mobilized for the participation of early-career scientists and professionals. The submission deadline is 06 October 2017. YOUNGO — Global South Scholarships to attend COP23 and COY13 on Climate Change

Youngo offers complete financial support and capacity building training to participate at UN Climate Change Conference and 13th Conference Of Youth (COY13) in November, 2017 in Bonn, Germany. Young people around the world can actively engage in the effort to address climate change. The program shall cover all costs of travel, accommodation, visa, travel insurance fee, food, local transport and other costs for the selected applicants. International Institute of Education — Indigenous Biocultural Exchange Fund

The Indigenous Biocultural Exchange Fund provides up to US$5 thousand to indigenous individuals to attend global biocultural exchanges or meetings which impact the applicant’s home territory or region.  Applicants must be indigenous or members of a local indigenous community. Additional preference will be given to women and youth. The fund is especially for, but not limited to, indigenous individuals in the following regions: African Rift Valley; Central Asia and Turkey; Southwest U.S. and Northern Mexico; Northern Australia; and Melanesia. Indo-U.S. Science and Technology Forum — Water Advanced Research and Innovation Fellowships

The Water Advanced Research and Innovation Fellowships fund Indian participants to gain exposure and access to research facilities in water resources at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and the Daugherty Water for Food Institute. Fellowships of three to twelve months are for Indian scientists holding a PhD in water science and engineering. Internships of three to six months are for individuals currently engaged in their PhD studies in water sciences in India. The application deadline is 31 August 2017. Link

British Council — UK-China PhD Placements

The UK-China Joint Research and Innovation Partnership Fund is a sponsorship opportunity for UK and Chinese PhD students and their supervisors to spend three to twelve months (for PhD students) and up to three months (for supervisors) at higher education institutions in China or the UK. The focus is on research areas that include food and water security, environmental technologies, and energy — among others. Applicants must find a host institution in their target country, and placements must start between January and December 2018. The application process closes on 20 September 2017. Link

U.S. Department of State — Scientist Exchange in the Lower Mekong Region

The U.S. Embassy in Bangkok announces funding in support of managing a Young Scientist Exchange Program where young scientists from the Lower Mekong countries (Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, and Vietnam) engage in exchange programs with participating institutes/research centers on issues deemed challenges for the region. They include issues of sustainable development and environment. Eligibility to apply extends to non-profit organizations. The program expects to make one grant for US$395 thousand. Orskov Foundation — Grants in Sustainable Land Use for University Students

Orskov makes grants to support student projects in agriculture and sustainable land use in developing countries. Preference will be given to training that emphasizes animal, plant, and soil interactions. Projects should have the potential to alleviate poverty and to provide sustainable environmental benefits, including adaptation/mitigation to the impacts of climate change. Applications are invited from individuals in lower-income and lower middle-income countries. The program includes student grants up to £2,500 to support studies at a university or similar organization other than the university/college in which the applicant is registered. The application period is 01 October through 31 December of each year. Link

Liebnitz Institute for Zoo and Wildlife Research — Travel Grants for the International Conference on Behaviour, Physiology, and Genetics of Wildlife 2017

The Liebnitz Instiute for Zoo and Wildlife Research (IZW) is partnering with the European Association of Zoos and Aquaria to invite participants for the 11th International Conference on Behaviour, Physiology, and Genetics of Wildlife (October, Berlin). IZW offers travel grants up to €500 as well as free registration for the conference banquet for selected highly-qualified scientists from developing countries. Applicants for travel grants should register online and submit their abstracts no later than 19 July 2017. Link
