United Nations Development Program — Arab States Youth Futures Fellowship

The United Nations Development Program (UNDP) invites youth from the Arab States region to submit creative solutions on the future of climate change and/or civic engagement. Ideas can be submitted through poetry, an article, a story, a monologue, a piece of art, videos, objects from the future (that exist in 2030), dance, music, or any medium of the participant’s choosing. Up to 30 young people will be selected to take part in the Youth Futures Fellowship, a five-week capacity building opportunity. University of Waterloo — Online Workshop: Green Entrepreneurship

The University of Waterloo, in partnership with the Commission for Environmental Cooperation (CEC) and the EcoInnovation Network, invites students and aspiring entrepreneurs to register in a six-part series of free online workshops on green entrepreneurship. The workshop targets researchers, youth, aspiring environmental and social entrepreneurs from across North America (including Mexico). The workshop provides practical knowledge and resources for those interested in launching green startups. Sessions start on 27 October 2020 with simultaneous translation in three languages (English, French and Spanish). Link to more information

IHE Delft Institute for Water Education — Webinar Series

IHE Delft and partners in Palestine, Jordan, and Europe introduce a new webinar series on free and open-source software programs and their applications in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. The online MSc program is designed for students in Water Resources Engineering with the aim to provide participants with the latest technological tools, interdisciplinary skills, and applied experience needed to tackle critical water resources issues in the MENA region. Interested students are invited to join the free webinar series and learn more about the eMWRE program and the potential of the open-source software. The first webinar starts on 03 November 2020. Global Affairs Canada — Canadian International Development Scholarships Program

Global Affairs Canada invites concept notes from Canadian organizations to implement the Canadian International Development Scholarships Program 2021-2029, which will provide international scholars access to Canadian post-secondary institutions. The scholarships program must be designed to enhance social and economic development for scholars in eligible Francophonie and Commonwealth countries, as well as other Small Island Developing States. The total amount of funding available under this call is valued at up to C$80 million over 8 years. The submission deadline is 19 November 2020. Find the call

European Union — European Researchers’ Night

The European Researchers’ Night is a Europe-wide public and media event for the promotion of research careers. Established researchers have the opportunity to showcase the diversity of science and to stimulate interest in research careers among young people. Legal entities, such as research organizations, companies, public authorities, schools, science museums, foundations or the media from an EU Member State or Associated Country can apply to host an event for researchers’ night. Events and actions that target climate and environmental-related challenges are especially welcome. The European Commission offers funding that covers any expenses linked to the organization of the research outreach event. The deadline for submission of applications is 12 January 2021. Ashinaga UK — Webinar: How to apply to a UK University

Ashinaga UK, the UK branch of “Ashinaga”, will be hosting a webinar entitled “How to Make a Successful International Application to a UK University”. A panel of experts will give tips for applying to UK universities as an international applicant, covering both undergraduate and postgraduate options. Participants will have the chance to ask questions. Participation is free. The webinar will be held on 16 October 2020 at 2 pm GMT.  Register here

Climate Change Africa Opportunities Network — Green Ambassadors for Climate in Africa

The Climate Change Africa Opportunities (CCAO) Network asks young climate and environment activists to become Green Ambassadors for climate in Africa. The network aims to promote young climate activists and support them in remaining proactive for the protection of the environment and the fight against climate change. Green Ambassadors are voluntary activists but will receive international recognition and access to networking opportunities. Applicants must be nationality of an African country and be aged 18 -35 years at the time of application. The submission period ends 31 October 2020. Become a Green Ambassador

United Nations Institute for Training and Research — Disaster Risk Reduction Training Program for Women

The UNITAR Tsunami-based Disaster Risk Reduction Training Program for Women in Pacific Ocean countries focuses on building resilience and enhancing security of the region. The training program is designed to encourage participants to gain knowledge in Disaster Risk Reduction and develop a country DRR Plan with consideration of both natural and biological hazards. The program is open to anyone living inside and from Cook Islands, Micronesia, Fiji, Kiribati, Nauru, Niue, Palau, Papua New Guinea, Marshall Islands, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Tuvalu, or Vanuatu. 100,000 Strong in the Americas — Higher Education for Sustainability in Mexico

The US-Mexico Innovation Fund Competition is designed to create and foster partnerships between higher education (HEIs) in Mexico and the United States that provide new student exchange and training programs in the academic themes of Green/Renewable Energy, Sustainable Agriculture, Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) and others. The Innovation Fund intends to award up to 11 grants of US$25 thousand. Higher education institutions in Mexico and the United States are eligible to apply. The deadline to apply is 15 February 2021. Luc Hoffmann Institute — Diversifying Community Livelihoods from Wildlife

The Luc Hoffmann Institute, the African Leadership University’s School of Wildlife Conservation and the WWF launch a global innovation challenge.The principal aim of the “Beyond Tourism in Africa” challenge is to discover new revenue models that do not depend on tourism, but still enable local communities in Africa to derive income from wildlife. Any individual or team with bold ideas from around the world may apply. Up to 15 ideas will be selected. Successful applicants will win a place in the African Leadership University’s 8-month incubation program. During the incubation program, participants may receive a grant of up to US$10 thousand.
