U.S. National Academy of Sciences — Land and Resource Governance

PEER invites applications from African graduate students and their mentors interested in building their capacity for research on land and resource governance. The projects funded under this special call for proposals must be conducted by graduate students and postdoctoral fellows, working in close partnership with university-based research mentors. UK Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council — Discovery Fellowships 2020

The Discovery Fellowships provide support for early-career researchers wishing to undertake independent research and gain leadership skills. Proposals can be submitted in any area of science. Technische Universität München — Online Course: Introduction to Land Management

The Technische Universität München (TUM), in partnership with edX, offers an online course on the basics of land management. Participants will learn why, when, and where sustainable land management is most needed and what the potential application fields of land management are. United Nations Foundation — Empowering Girls

The United Nations Foundation seeks passionate female change-makers from all around the world for the Girl Up Teen Advisor program. Teen Advisors receive skills-based trainings, professional development opportunities, hands-on learning, and networking opportunities. Applicants may develop projects that empower girls and women including one or more subject areas of the Terra Viva Grants Directory. Applicants who represent underrepresented backgrounds in regards to race/ethnicity, nationality, socio-economic status etc., are especially encouraged to apply. Thomson Reuters Foundation — Story Grants: Reporting the Energy Transition in Southeast Asia

The Thomson Reuters Foundation invites journalists and editors from Southeast Asia to participate in a three-day training program on climate change and energy transition. The Foundation will provide mentoring support and a number of small story grants to journalists and editors who completed the training. US Department of State — Academy for Women Entrepreneurs in South Africa

The U.S. Embassy South Africa announces an open competition for organizations to submit concept notes to carry out a training program for women entrepreneurs in South Africa in collaboration with the Arizona State University. (Note: This announcement seeks implementing partners. It does NOT seek applications for participation in the program.) The Academy for Women Entrepreneurs (AWE) participants will engage in lessons on business management and network with mentors from their regions and the United States. The implementing partner will also be expected to organize a pre-launch training program for facilitators throughout South Africa, to occur in Johannesburg. The estimated total project funding is US$37 thousand. Eligibility extends to non-profit organizations, for-profit organizations and institutions of higher education. Colorado State University — Seminar: Planning and Managing Tourism in Protected Areas

Colorado State University (CSU) offers a seminar in the Western USA for individuals engaged in tourism and outdoor recreation in protected areas. The next seminar is scheduled for September 2020. Ideal participants are mid-level professional and technical personnel who work for governmental or NGO conservation and tourism organizations; in academia; in the private sector; and in community-based and indigenous tourism and conservation initiatives in or near protected areas. New Zealand Aid Program — Development Scholarships 2020

New Zealand’s government provides a variety of opportunities for training and university study through the New Zealand Aid Program, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade. The program has four scholarship schemes, reaching a total of over 90 countries. The priorities for support often include agriculture, renewable energy, fisheries, disaster risk management, and other areas related to natural resources and environment. The eligibility requirements for scholarships are specific to each country/regional program. The application deadline for submissions is 28 February 2020 for most developing countries in Southeast Asia, the Pacific Islands, Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean; and 27 March 2020 for Commonwealth countries. Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund — Biodiversity Conservation in the Tropical Andes (Capacity-Building Program)

The CEPF invites applications for small grants (maximum budget: US$49,950) in support of biodiversity conservation in the Tropical Andes. Civil society organizations are requested to submit Letters of Inquiry (LOI) to implement a capacity-building program for CEPF grantees and key stakeholder groups located in Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru.
