U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service — Great Ape Conservation Fund 2021

The Great Ape Conservation Fund (Asia) is open to project proposals for the conservation of orangutans and gibbons throughout their ranges in Asia. Grants are for applied research, training, conservation management, community outreach, law enforcement, decreased human-wildlife conflicts, and other activities in conservation. About 15-20 grants will be awarded, ranging from US$50 thousand to a maximum of US$500 thousand. Eligibility for grants extends worldwide to qualified and relevant government agencies, other organizations, multi-national secretariats, and individuals. The application deadline is 07 May 2021. U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service — Rhinoceros and Tiger Conservation Fund Asia

The Rhinoceros and Tiger Conservation Fund (RTCF) solicits proposals for the conservation of Asian rhinoceroses and tigers. Grants are for applied research, training, conservation management, community outreach, law enforcement, decreased human-wildlife conflicts, and other activities in conservation. Grants should range from US$50 thousand to a maximum of US$500 thousand and match the scope of the activities and the length of the project period. Eligibility for grants extends worldwide to qualified and relevant government agencies, other organizations, multi-national secretariats, and individuals. The application deadline is 31 July 2021. Primate Conservation Inc. — Funding for Primate Research

Primate Conservation, Incorporated (PCI) supports conservation programs for wild populations of primates. PCI offers seed monies and matching grants for graduate students, qualified conservationists, and primatologists to study rare and endangered primates. The maximum grant amount is US$5 thousand. Preference is for projects that involve people of the habitat countries. The deadline for grant applications is 20 September of each year. Details here

Ecologia — The Virtual Foundation

Ecologia aims to build global connections that create civil society and support environmental, human health, and economic sustainability. In support of these objectives, Ecologia established the Virtual Foundation to raise financial contributions over the internet, and to steer this funding towards project implementers in partner countries. The Virtual Foundation supports small scale projects with grants of up to US$5 thousand, with preference for projects under US$2 thousand. There is no calendar deadline. Link

U.S. Mission to India — Air Quality Hackathon

The Air Quality Hackathon is a brainstorming event to find practical solutions for improving air quality. Results and solutions will be shared and implemented during a follow-on campaign with school communities and NGO partners. The applicants will conduct a survey to measure the impact of the intervention program after the project is over. The maximum funding amount is US$60 thousand. Eligibility extends to non-profit organizations, civil society, think tanks, educational institutions, individuals and governmental institutions. The closing date for applications is 30 April 2021. Impact-R — Energy, WASH and Food Security Nexus

Impact-Driven & Action-Based Research (Impact-R) invites microfinance institutions, NGOs, cooperatives, and technology providers with a strong social mission working in developing countries to conduct household data collection studies. The purpose of the studies is to investigate the nexus between access to energy, access to clean water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH), and food security, through a detailed needs/market assessment at the household level. Selected institutions will receive support for the field staff involved in the data collection and will have the opportunity to collaborate with leading research institutions. In addition, Impact-R will offer scholarships for desk research. Eligibility extends to institutions working in rural regions in Africa, Latin America, and Southeast Asia. Global Development Network — Biodiversity and Development Award

The Global Development Network (GDN) and the French Development Agency (AFD) launch the AFD-GDN Biodiversity and Development Award. The program creates an opportunity for researchers based in select developing countries to produce and disseminate quality research and policies relevant to create the link between biodiversity and development. The program consists of four individual research grants of up to US$40 thousand for a 24-month project and two additional multidisciplinary grants of up to US$15 thousand. The call is open to teams of researchers belonging to a university or any other research oriented organizations based in Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Ethiopia, Fiji, Gabon, Guinea, Guyana, Kenya, Madagascar, Mozambique, Republic of Congo, Senegal, Tunisia, Uganda, and Vietnam. Government of India — Indo-Italian Joint Research Program

The Governments of India and Italy invite joint research projects by researchers of both countries. The aim is to encourage scientific and technological cooperation between Italy and India. Proposals for joint research in the following scientific areas (relevant to TVG) are eligible: Ecological and Environmental Modeling; Water Management; and Disaster Risk Management. University of Nottingham — Postgraduate Excellence Award

The University of Nottingham offers scholarships covering £2 thousand towards full-time masters tuition fees for international students from the Commonwealth and other selected countries in Eastern Europe and Central Asia. Eligible countries include: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine and Uzbekistan. ygap — Poverty Solutions for Bangladesh

The ygap accelerator provides support to entrepreneurs from Bangladesh. Entrepreneurs and startups with project ideas and poverty solutions for their local community are invited to apply for the one week training program. The five-day workshop (April 2021) will provide social entrepreneurs with access to training designed to focus on business growth. Participants will gain access to professionals (designers, lawyers, coaches, etc.) and have the opportunity to apply for small grants. Interested entrepreneurs have to apply by 31 March 2021.
