BRICS STI Framework Programme — Call for Research and Development Projects

The BRICS STI Framework Programme calls for proposals to promote research cooperation among partner institutions in Brazil, China, India, Russia, and South Africa. Project proposals should consist of partners in at least three BRICS countries for research on preventing and monitoring natural disasters; water resources and pollution management; new and renewable energy; and other themes. Sustainable Mekong Research Network — Fellowships for Early-Career Researchers

The Sustainable Mekong Research Network (SUMERNET) fellowships are intended for young and early-career (not older than 35 years) Mekong Region citizens with researcher and/or practitioner backgrounds from the countries of Cambodia, Lao PDR, Myanmar, Thailand, and Vietnam. The Fellow will receive a monthly allowance of approx. US$ 750 to cover basic living costs and accommodation while residing in Bangkok (Thailand). The duration of this grant is 12 months. Tzedek — Grassroots Projects in Africa and South Asia

Tzedek is a Jewish charitable organization aiming to reduce extreme poverty, focusing on grassroots projects in Africa and Asia. Tzedek supports local NGOs with the aim to develop partnerships to secure livelihoods of the poorest and most disadvantaged. The Overseas Project Team (OPT) operates Tzedek’s Partnership Project Grants scheme. Projects funded in the past include vocational training, micro-credit, livelihood startups, livestock, agriculture and more. The OPT meets 4-6 times a year. CIVICUS — Civil Society Activism

The CIVICUS Nelson Mandela-Graça Machel Innovation Awards shed a light on the importance of people power and civil society activism in creating a more just, inclusive and sustainable world. The Awards will recognize seven individuals, groups or organizations that stand out for their innovative work building people power in support of human rights and social justice for everyone. Each winning initiative will receive a US$5 thousand prize. The Awards are open to any individual, organization or group in Asia, Africa, Latin America, the Caribbean, and Pacific. British Council — Research Environment Links

Research Environment Links grants provide financial support for capacity strengthening and collaboration activities to develop and sustain medium- to long-term relationships in the UK and partner countries. The British Council invites proposals for research collaboration and partnerships between universities and research institutes in Egypt, Malaysia, Morocco, Thailand or Turkey. Each proposal must have one Lead Applicant from the partner country and one Lead Applicant from the UK. Research Links funds any discipline or cross-discipline for up to £50 thousand. Young Water Solutions — Young Water Fellowship Program: Bangladesh

Young Water Solutions supports young entrepreneurs to launch their water and sanitation related social businesses. The Young Water Fellowship provides training, seed-funding and mentorship. The bootcamp aims to empower its participants to implement projects addressing water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH), water pollution, and water scarcity. After the bootcamps Fellows can apply for a funding of up to €5 thousand to pilot their business models over 6 months. To be eligible, applicants must be 18 to 30 years old, have at least an intermediate knowledge of English, intend to stay in Bangladesh for at least 1.5 years after the training and spend at least 15 hours per week to work on their social business. Sustainable Mekong Research Network — Rapid Response Grants

The Sustainable Mekong Research Network (SUMERNET) seeks to reduce water insecurity for the poor, marginalized and socially vulnerable groups in the Mekong Region. SUMERNET will provide up to two grants to collaborative research projects that focus on water access; governance and management of water-related disaster risks; and transboundary interactions with water systems. The proposed project must cover the whole Mekong region or at least two countries in the study area. Funding support will not exceed US$ 45 thousand per research project to be completed within 6-12 months. The Lead Applicant must be a formal SUMERNET network member. Asia Network for Sustainable Agriculture and Bioresources — Capacity Building Program

The Asia Network for Sustainable Agriculture and Bioresources (ANSAB) invites civil society organizations from Fiji, Nepal and Vietnam to submit their expression of interest for possible funding to implement sub-projects. The objective of the proposal should be to strengthen the knowledge of targeted CSOs at local and national levels through trainings, workshops, awareness campaigns, and local meetings. Capacity building activities should enable participants to understand the impacts of climate change on local communities and locally-based sustainable livelihoods. Anticipated funding for each sub-project is US$90 thousand for 9 months. Proposed activities are to be implemented in Fiji, Nepal and Vietnam for the benefit of local communities. United Nations Capital Development Fund — Agritech Challenge

The United Nations Capital Development Fund (UNCDF) invites Expressions of Interest for the Agritech Challenge 2021 to co-create or adapt solutions for smallholders farmers. Solutions must focus on key challenges of small farmers in Kenya, Malawi, Uganda, Zambia in Africa and India, Indonesia, Malaysia in Asia. The program invites applications from start-ups with solutions that are addressing low productivity, climate risk, or inefficient supply chain challenges and are interested to pilot their solution in one of the seven participating countries. Global Biodiversity Information Facility — Infrastructure for Biodiversity Collections

The GBIF Secretariat seeks contractors to support cooperative activities with focus on further developing access and data linkage to scientific collections and ecological datasets in Asia. Applicants are expected to provide technical help-desk assistance, training and mentoring to support institutional engagement in the mobilization and use of biodiversity data. Individuals located in eligible countries and areas in South-East Asia, South Asia and North-East Asia are eligible. Applications must be submitted by 07 September 2021. Link
