European Commission — Consolidator Grants

The European Commission provides Consolidator Grants to experienced researchers with a scientific track record. ERC Grants support projects carried out by an individual researcher who can employ researchers of any nationality as team members. Applications can be made in any field of research. Proposed research projects under this program must be conducted in a public or private research organization located in one of the EU Member States or Associated Countries. Consolidator Grants may be awarded up to €2 million for a period of 5 years. The deadline for applications is 17 March 2022. Link

Latvian State Education Development Agency — Scholarships 2022/2023

The Latvian State Education Development Agency offers scholarships to foreign students, researchers and teaching staff for studies, research and participation in summer schools in Latvian higher education institutions (HEIs) for the academic year 2022/2023. Study programs include Agriculture, Environmental Science, Forestry, Energy, among others. The scholarship amount varies from €500 to €670 per month, depending on the program. Netherlands Organization for International Cooperation in Higher Education — Future Matters Scholarship

The NN Future Matters scholarship and coaching program supports professional development by offering young people who need support access to mentorship and coaching throughout their studies. The scholarship consists of €5 thousand and a mentorship. Students have to be enrolled at a full-time program in the field of finance, risk management, economics, data science, entrepreneurship or IT at one of nine participating Dutch research universities. Only students from Belgium, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Greece, Hungary, Japan, the Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Spain or Turkey are eligible. The application deadline is 01 April 2022. CRDF Global — Alternative Energy Research Competition 2022

CRDF Global invites proposals from joint teams of U.S. and Ukrainian researchers for the 2022 US-Ukraine Alternative Energy Research Competition. The competition will support research teams engaged in basic or applied research in the area of photovoltaic, turbine, and biofuel technology. Demeter — Pilots in the Agri-Food Sector

Demeter seeks to fund a small consortia of 2-3 partners for the deployment of new, high-value pilots in the agri-food sector. These pilots will focus on employing Demeter methodologies and technologies, addressing clear farmer needs, with particular focus on EU geographic regions. Demeter will provide up to €150 thousand equity-free funding per consortia available per successful project. The opportunity is open to consortia composed of two or three small to medium-sized enterprises, higher education establishments, research institutes and other non-profit research entities. CRDF Global — Biological Supply Chains

CRDF Global awards grants to selected applicants from Eastern Europe to support training on securing biological supply chains through updated best practices. These grants are a one-time award of up to US$10 thousand. Only applications from Estonia, Hungary, Lithuania, Latvia, Poland, and Ukraine are eligible. New America — Learning Sciences Exchange

The Learning Sciences Exchange (LSX) is a two-year fellowship for mid-career professionals in Europe, North America, Latin America, and Africa. The program’s goal is a better application of the insights emerging from the science of learning for children ages 2 to 12. LSX Fellows will work in teams to develop cross-sector projects that activate change in schools and other learning settings. Eligibility for the fellowship program extends to researchers, journalists, education leaders, entrepreneurs, and entertainment producers with a focus on the science of learning. European Commission — Climate Leadership

EIT Climate-KIC invites proposals from Higher Education Institutions and other organizations from across Europe that are willing to deliver the Climate Leadership Journey program in their local ecosystems. The program will empower future leaders and innovators from all disciplines and all university and training levels to become active change agents. GSMA — Innovation Fund for Climate Resilience and Adaptation

GSMA Innovation Fund for Climate Resilience and Adaptation seeks to help accelerate the testing, adoption and scalability of digital innovations that enable the world’s most vulnerable populations to adapt to the negative impacts of climate change. GSMA aims to test innovations that can increase the capacity of low-income and vulnerable communities to adapt, and develop approaches or business models that can be scaled to build climate resilience and adaptation. Successful projects will receive an equity-free grant of between £100 thousand and £250 thousand to scale their innovation over a 15 to 18 month period. Start-ups, small and medium enterprises and social enterprises in Africa, Asia-Pacific, the Caribbean, Latin America and Eastern Europe are eligible to apply. Applications close on 09 January 2022. Swedish Institute — Sustainable Growth in the Baltic Sea Region

The Swedish Institute offers project funding through the call ‘Third Country Participation in the Baltic Sea region’. The Institute funds projects that will contribute to economic, environmentally and socially sustainable growth in the Baltic Sea region and its immediate area. The main applicant has to be based in Sweden, but must include at least three actors in three different countries, including Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Georgia, Germany, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Poland, Russia, or Ukraine. Projects can apply for SEK100 thousand to SEK500 thousand. Applications can be submitted until 15 February 2022. About
