The European Commission seeks project proposals (two-stage call) to understand the role of climate change in shaping population migration patterns around the world (e.g. Africa to Europe) and ensure the adaptation of less developed countries, particularly in Africa. Actions should address only one of the following sub-topics: (A) Climate services for Africa; and (B) climate change and its effects on human migration. The Commission will consider proposals in the range of €5 million to €7 million. International cooperations and legal entities established in EU Member States, Overseas Countries and Territories and Horizon 2020 associated countries (as detailed in the call) are eligible to apply under this call. Regional Universities Forum for Capacity Building in Agriculture — Doctoral Research Scholarships
The Social and Environmental Trade-offs in African Agriculture (Sentinel) Project, funded by the UKRI Global Challenges Research Fund (GCRF), aims at building the capacity of African and UK research organizations to address trade-offs between economic, environmental and social outcomes for future agricultural development. For that reason, RUFORUM makes 20 research scholarships to PhD students to undertake research in areas of relevance to the Project. A minimum of 15 research projects have to take place in Ghana, Ethiopia, and Zambia. The Water for Women Fund aims to improve health, gender equality, and well-being of Asian and Pacific communities. Research organisations are invited to submit proposals for the Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) Research Awards. The CEPF calls for proposals that contribute towards the conservation of the Cerrado Biodiversity Hotspot in Brazil. CEPF posts the ecosystem profile, and a list of key biodiversity areas, in the announcement. Eligibility for funding extends to community groups and associations, NGOs, private enterprises, universities, research institutes, and other civil society organizations. The European Commission aims to increase capacity and establish an enabling environment for Chinese CSOs to address issues of poverty and inequality. One of the priorities under this call is to increase participation in climate change decisions and mitigating its adverse effects. Organization for Tropical Studies — Research Scholarships 2019
The OTS manages a research fellowship program to support field research in tropical biology and related fields. The program offers three types of awards: pilot awards for exploratory research; thesis research fellowships; and ECTS-GS fellowships. Most awards are restricted to three OTS field stations in Costa Rica. Exceptions are one annual fellowship for research at the Cocha Cashu field station in Peru, and the Hovore-Horn Entomology awards in any Latin American country.
