Belmont Forum — Tropical Forests

The Belmont Forum aims to coordinate actions and projects with a transdisciplinary approach to develop innovative solutions to the challenges faced in tropical forest regions. The Belmont Forum will fund three-year projects. This call for proposals recognizes the growing threats to those ecosystems and their inhabitants, such as climate change, deforestation, unregulated agroindustry and land conversion, illegal activities, pollution, and environmental/climate injustices. International Development Research Centre — Climate Adaptation and Resilience

The International Development Research Centre (IDRC) makes grants to research organizations that enhance urban resilience to climate change in ASEAN member states. This funding opportunity is available to research organizations that are headquartered in a member state of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). IDRC intends to provide grant funding of up to CA$3.4 million. The application deadline is 09 July 2024. Details here

U.S. Department of State — Air Pollution

The U.S. Department of State announces an open competition for organizations interested in applying to implement a project on increasing sub-national, national, and regional capacity to address air pollution in Latin America and/or Central Asia. The goal is to equip countries in Latin America and Central Asia with the tools to actively engage in regional air quality initiatives. Funding ranges from US$365 thousand to US$730 thousand. Belmont Forum — Collaborative Research Action Africa

The Belmont Forum announces the launch of the Africa Regional Collaborative Research Action. The call aims to address knowledge gaps and priorities in addressing climate change vulnerability across the continent. Proposals should include a strong and deliberate linkage between the societal and environmental aspects of global environmental challenges. The Belmont Forum will fund three-year projects. UK Government — Darwin Capability & Capacity Grants

The Darwin Initiative invites applications for proposals that deliver effective and successful biodiversity conservation as well as poverty reduction projects. Darwin Initiative Capability & Capacity projects may request between £50 thousand to £200 thousand for projects that focus on developing the capability and capacity of national and local organizations. West Africa Civil Society Institute — Research Fellowship

The West Africa Civil Society Institute (WACSI) serves as a resource hub for training, research and documentation, experience sharing, and policy dialogue for organized civil society in West Africa. The research fellowship is open to all young researchers from West Africa. Other young researchers who are not from the region but are interested in understanding and documenting civil society praxis in West Africa can be considered. Fellows will work with experienced professionals to explore key issues, trends, and challenges affecting the civil society ecosystem. Fellows will receive monthly stipends and a research allowance from the Institute. Applications should be submitted on or before 31 May 2024. WACSI Research Fellowship

ETH Zurich — Consolidation Grants

ETH Consolidation Grants provide grants up to CHF50 thousand to strengthen existing research collaborations. Consolidation Grants aim to encourage more advanced, solid projects between Switzerland and East Asia or the Southeast Asia region. The main applicant has to be a postdoctoral researcher, senior scientist, or professor of a Swiss federal and cantonal university. Applications are open until 15 June 2024. ETH Consolidation Grants

Save Our Seas Foundation — Keystone Grants 2024

The Save Our Seas Foundation funds and supports marine and ocean research, conservation, and education projects worldwide. Projects have to focus on charismatic threatened wildlife and their habitats, with a particular concern for marine chondrichthyan species (sharks, rays, skates, sawfishes, and chimaeras). The usual project duration is limited to three years with a grant average of US$25 thousand per year. The next application period (Stage I) is 03 May 2024. Keystone Grants

Women for Africa Foundation — Research Fellowships in Spain

The Women for Africa Foundation has launched the 9th Edition of its “Science by Women” program. The program aims to promote African women’s leadership in scientific research and technology transfer and to foster the capacity of the research centers in their home countries. Thematic areas include sustainable agriculture and food security, water, energy and climate change; and several others. Each Spanish Centre of Excellence will host one senior woman researcher for a six-month fellowship. Eligibility to apply extends to women who are nationals of any African country, and who have a PhD, with at least three years of postdoctoral experience. World Academy of Sciences — TWAS-LUMS Postgraduate Fellowship

The Lahore University of Management Sciences and TWAS offer fellowships to young scientists from developing countries (other than Pakistan) who wish to pursue research towards a PhD in Natural Sciences and Engineering. The Fellowship may be granted for a maximum period of five years. LUMS will provide a monthly stipend which should be used to cover living costs, such as food, accommodation, and local transportation. Applicants should be a maximum age of 35 years and hold a Master’s degree in a field of natural sciences. The deadline for receipt of applications is 11 October 2024. TWAS-LUMS
