Earth Journalism Network — Reporting on Critical Environmental Issues in the Pacific Region

The Earth Journalism Network (EJN) offers grants to journalists based in the Pacific Islands to report on critical issues related to climate change, biodiversity, pollution, and the illegal wildlife trade. Selected journalists will receive an average of US$ 1,500 in funding to cover travel and field reporting costs to produce of in-depth or investigative stories focused on environmental challenges in the region. European Commission — Partnerships for Sustainable Cities

The European Commission invites concept notes for projects that address urban challenges such as water security, pollution, and climate change, among others. The call is divided into five geographical areas: Sub-Saharan Africa, Asia-Pacific, Latin America and the Caribbean, Southern and Eastern Europe, and extremely fragile countries. Amounts requested under this call must fall between €2 million and €5 million. Eligibility extends to non-profit organizations. Deadline for submission of concept notes is 27 March 2020. Link

UK Royal Society — Grants for Scientific Meetings

The Royal Society hosts a program of scientific meetings each year with the aim to bring together scientists from around the world to present and discuss new research in all areas of science. Each meeting is organised by leaders in the field, using their expertise to ensure the key topics are covered. The Royal Society contributes to travel and expenses for the meeting and provides logistical support. Proposals are invited from any UK-based researcher. JPI Oceans — Aquatic Pollutants Joint Transnational Call

The Joint Programming Initiatives (JPIs) on Water, Oceans and Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) announces a call for research and innovation projects on risks posed to human health and the environment by pollutants and pathogens present in water resources. A total of €22.6 million has been allocated for this call. There is no limit of total budget for proposals. Each consortium must be composed of eligible independent entities from a minimum of three different EU Member States or H2020 Associated countries (listed in the announcement). European Commission — Environmental and Climate Action in Montenegro

The European Commission seeks to build capacity and awareness and improve the implementation of environmental and climate action policies in Montenegro. The priority areas to be addressed are Awareness; Recycling; Knowledge about Biodiversity; Environmental and Climate change in schools; Inclusion of Civil Society and economic operators in policy dialogue on environment and climate change issues; and Implementation of Environmental policies. Applicants may request between €30 thousand and €90 thousand for project implementation. African Center of Excellence in Energy for Sustainable Development — Innovative Business Ideas

The African Center of Excellence in Energy for Sustainable Development (ACEESD), in collaboration with World Bank and SIDA, invites students and individuals, both nationals of Rwanda and non-nationals, to submit their business ideas to develop a product aimed at a practical solution reflecting the real problems faced by communities in Rwanda and Africa. Selected entrepreneurs will attend a boot camp and receive mentorship, coaching and guidance to further develop their idea into a real business. The best five ideas will receive seed funding. InterAction — Photo Contest 2020

InterAction encourages photographers from all around the world to submit powerful photos that illustrate innovative, effective, and inspiring efforts in international relief and development. Examples of empowering women, innovative technology, food security and environmental development are within the contest’s theme, though entries are not limited to those areas. The Grand Prize Winner will receive US$1,000 and the winning photo will be showcased at InterAction’s 2020 Forum in April 2020, in Washington, DC (USA). The deadline for submissions is 11 March 2020. Die Presse — MSc Scholarships in Environmental Technology & International Affairs

The daily newspaper “Die Presse” seeks applications for the MSc Program “Environmental Technology & International Affairs” which is available at the Technische Universität Wien (Austria). Students will receive €13,600 to pursue their MSc, thus contributing indirectly to the solution of problems relevant for environment at an international level. UK Natural Environment Research Council — Impact of Plastic Pollution on Marine Ecosystems

UK’s Natural Environment Research Council (NERC) and Singapore’s National Research Foundation (NRF) invite proposals for collaborative research projects to understand the impact of plastic pollution on marine ecosystems in Southeast Asia. Applicants may request up to S$1.25 million from NRF and up to £700 thousand from NERC. Applications are sought from teams comprising researchers from Singapore, the UK and low- and middle-income countries in Southeast Asia. Service Objects — In-Kind Grants

Service Objects In-Kind Grants provide support to organizations that encourage environmental leadership through the reduction of waste or assist in the aftermath of natural disasters. Organizations working to encourage environmental leadership and conservation are welcome to apply for grants of up to $2,500. Grants are offered to organizations that have 501(c)(3) status within the United States, however, there are no geographical limitations in relation to project implementation. Grants will be made on an individual basis, therefore, applications are accepted on a rolling basis. Find more information
