Fondation Carmignac — Photojournalism Award 2019

The Carmignac Photojournalism Award aims to support a journalistic and photographic project which shows the human, social and ecological challenges the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) faces today. The contest is open to photojournalism projects that explore humanitarian issues, human-wildlife conflicts, the exploitation of natural resources (including mining, freshwater, deforestation), and other conflicts relevant to the DR Congo. The winner will receive a €50 thousand grant to carry out a 6-month field report. Submissions will be received until 16 October 2019. More

Ford Motor Company — Conservation and Environmental Grants in the Middle East and North Africa

The Ford Motor Company makes grants for ongoing and non-profit projects focused on conservation engineering, protection of the natural environment, and environmental education in countries of the Middle East and North Africa. In 2019, Ford requests projects under the theme “Beating Air Pollution”. Initiatives in Algeria, Bahrain, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Morocco, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Tunisia, and Yemen can request up to US$12 thousand. UNESCO — Plastic Initiative Award & Photo Contest

UNESCO Bangkok invites schools, universities and other institutions to apply for the Plastic Initiative Award. Educational institutions from the Asia-Pacific region with established projects related to reuse/reduce/recycle, plastic waste management and innovations to solve the plastic pollution issues are eligible. The winner will receive a trophy and publicity. Furthermore, the winner will be invited to the Donor/Fundraising event (September 2019) at the National Science Museum of Thailand to give a presentation. U.S. Embassy Vietnam — YSEALI Micro-Grants Program

The U.S. Embassy Hanoi invites proposals for the 2019 Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative (YSEALI) Micro-Grant Program. The program offers grants of up to US$ 1,000 to young individuals (aged 18-35 years) and non-profit groups in Vietnam. Projects in the following themes (relevant to the Terra Viva Grants Directory) will be accepted: environmental protection/climate change; disaster preparedness; food security. United Nations Development Programme — Green and Sustainable Cities in Moldova

The UNDP-GEF Project “Moldova Sustainable Green Cities” launches a call for proposals within the Fast Track Challenge Program. The program provides financial support of up to US$8 thousand to innovative projects contributing to low carbon green city development. The thematic areas covered by this program include waste management, and energy efficiency, among others. Applicants must have a for-profit entity registered in the Republic of Moldova. Rapunzel Naturkost and IFOAM — One World Award

Natural health food producer Rapunzel Naturkost and IFOAM – Organics International, the international umbrella organization for organic agriculture, invite nominations for the ‘ONE WORLD AWARD 2020’ (OWA). The award recognizes innovative ideas, projects and people in three areas of sustainability, including conservation of nature and biodiversity, organic farming, contributions to stop climate change (energy conservation or use of renewable energy), and waste management. The winner will receive €45 thousand in prize money. Nominations can be submitted either by individuals or by organizations. Nominations will be accepted until 30 September 2019. Details 

Innovate UK — Newton-Ungku Omar Fund Grand Challenge

Innovate UK and the Malaysian Industry-Government Group for High Technology (MIGHT) seeks applications for the Newton-Ungku Omar Fund. The challenge invites innovative products, processes and services with focus on waste management or mobility. Eligibility extends to UK based businesses with at least one partner organisation, business, or academic institution located in Malaysia. UK partners can request up to £30 thousand, Malaysian partners up to RM165 thousand. The application deadline is 16 October 2019. Link

MacArthur Foundation — $100 Million to Solve a Critical Problem

The MacArthur Foundation seeks applications for the 100&Change competition. The winner will receive US$100 million to develop and implement a project that addresses a critical problem affecting people, places, or the planet. The competition is open to organizations working in any field of endeavor anywhere in the world. Applicants must identify the problem they are trying to solve, as well as their proposed solution. Nonprofit and for-profit organizations can apply. The competition will not accept applications from individuals or government agencies. Participants in the competition must register by 16 July 2019. European Commission — Environment & Climate Change in Macedonia

The European Commission aims to strengthen the capacity of civil society organisations in Macedonia. The objective of this call is to empower civil society to actively take part in decision making. One of the priority sectors unter this call is Environment & Climate Change (air pollution, solid waste management, energy efficiency & renewable resources, etc.). Grants requested under this call for proposals must fall between €40 thousand and €80 thousand. Eligibility extends to non-profit organizations registered in Macedonia. U.S. Department of State — YSEALI Academic Fellowship

The Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative (YSEALI) is a program of the U.S. government to support bright young leaders in the ASEAN countries. The YSEALI Academic Fellowship offer support to participate in a five-week institute on the campus of a U.S. university or college in one of the following topics: civil engagement; environmental issues; or social entrepreneurship and economic development. The fellowships include leadership development, an educational study tour, local community service activities, and opportunities to engage with peers in the USA. Applications are invited from current full-time undergraduate students citizen of Vietnam aged between 18 and 25 years. Application deadline is 02 June 2019. Link
