U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration — Saltonstall-Kennedy Grants for Fisheries 2019
The Saltonstall-Kennedy program funds projects that address the needs of fishing communities, and that build and maintain sustainable fisheries. The focus areas in 2019 are marine aquaculture; adapting to environmental changes and other long-term impacts in the marine ecosystem; fisheries promotion, development, and marketing. The program is open to applicants in the USA, Marshall Islands, Micronesia, and Palau — with priority for applications from the fishing community, and that involve fishing community cooperation and participation. U.S. Department of State — Illegally Harvested Timber and Forest Products in Global Trade
The U.S. Department of State announces a funding opportunity for mapping and analysis of illegally harvested timber and forest products in global trade. Australian Government — Direct Aid Program Africa
The Australian Government seeks applications for its Direct Aid Program (DAP) 2018/2019. DAP supports small-scale sustainable development projects and activities in the fields of agriculture; water and sanitation; environment/conservation; and others. Siemens Stiftung — Empowering People Award 2019
Siemens Stiftung sponsors the “empowering people. Award” as a means to identify and showcase relatively simple and smart technological solutions that have business potential to combat poverty in developing and emerging countries. The categories include water and waste water; energy; food and agriculture; waste management; and several others. The products or solutions to be submitted have to already be in use. The competition is open to any individual, team, organization, or enterprise from any region in the world. The top three prizes are €50 thousand, €30 thousand, and €20 thousand, respectively. The Scottish Government’s International Development Small Grants Programme provides project funding in support of the government’s International Development Policy. Applications for grants are invited from incorporated not-for-profit organisations which have a presence in Scotland and an annual turnover of less than £200 thousand. Project grants should focus on any of Malawi, Rwanda, or Zambia in themes of food security; renewable energy; climate change; water; and others. Grants for capacity building and feasibility studies will be accepted in relation to any country designated as medium/low on the UN’s Human Development Index — but with priority for Malawi, Rwanda, and Zambia. Awards are a maximum of £60 thousand for project grants over three years, or a maximum of £10 thousand for feasibility and capacity building grants over one year. International Fund for Agricultural Development — Climate-smart Aquaculture
IFAD seeks proposals for grants to implement a project on “Advancing Technologies and Capacity Building for Climate-smart Aquaculture”. The IFAD will support adaptive research, technology transfer and piloting climate smart aquaculture technologies worldwide. Capacity building in technologies for national aquaculture research will be supported in the targeted countries Eritrea, Ethiopia and Egypt. The IFAD grant amount under this call is up to US$1 million.
