British Council — PhD Scholarships for Egyptian Researchers

The Newton Mosharafa PhD Program supports Egyptian researchers to undertake PhD studies at a UK higher education institution. The program covers all fees and living/travel expenses. The program supports projects in five priority areas, including sustainable water management; renewable energy; and sustainable food production. The application deadline is 01 October 2020. Link

French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs — Franco-Palestinian Cooperation Partnership Projects

The French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs (MEAE) launches the new three-year call for projects (2019-2021) in support of decentralized cooperation partnership projects between French and Palestinian local authorities. The initiative aims at consolidating the partnerships in progress. All projects and actions located in the Palestinian Territories are eligible. Thematic areas include rural development, agriculture and food security; Water, sanitation and waste management; and renewable energy, among others. The MEAE provides at least €170 thousand per year. The call for projects is aimed at French and Palestinian local authorities (governorate, municipality, village council, local council, refugee camps). Geres – Women’s Entrepreneurship

Geres is an international development NGO which works to improve the living conditions of the poorest and tackle climate change and its impacts. Geres seeks to promote women’s entrepreneurship by scaling-up entrepreneurs and value chains involved in energy access in Mali, Morocco, and Myanmar. This call for expressions of interest is aimed at identifying up to four consultants (ideally three national consultants) to develop a country-based gender strategy sensitive to the specificities of each region. Moi University — Mobility for Innovative Renewable Energy Technologies

The Mobility for Innovative Renewable Energy Technologies (MIRET) project aims to build the capacity of graduate students needed to develop sustainable local solutions in the energy sector. MIRET invites qualified applicants to apply for scholarships to study at any of the five African Universities consortium: Moi University in Kenya, University of Zambia, Makerere University in Uganda, University of SFAX in Tunisia, and the University of BUEA in Cameroon. Cartier Women’s Initiative Awards — Edition 2021

Cartier supports women entrepreneurs who lead social enterprises in their early phases that have potential to grow significantly. Cartier reviews applications from Latin America, North America, Europe, Sub-Saharan Africa, the Middle East & North Africa, and the Asia-Pacific region. Previous laureates have included several whose work links to environment and related issues, e.g., product recycling, low-cost energy, water treatment, fair trade, and others. Each of the selected women entrepreneurs receives a cash prize of US$100 thousand, networking and visibility opportunities, and business coaching. The closing date for applications is 31 July 2020. U.S. Department of State — Support for Environmental Cooperation

The U.S. Department of State announces funding for logistics, meetings coordination, and digital communications to support environmental cooperation between all the U.S. Free Trade Agreement countries. Funding of up to US$197 thousand will be awarded to be used for logistics and meeting coordination support for in-person and virtual meetings, as well as digital communications to promote environmental cooperation programs. Eligibility is limited to U.S. and foreign non-profit organizations and academic institutions, as well as public international organizations. The closing date for applications is 31 July 2020. CRDF Global — Biorisk Management

CRDF Global announces the Biorisk Management Engagement Grant (BMEG) Competition. The goal of the competition is to provide support for biorisk management activities, such as laboratory design, repairs and maintenance of equipment, workshops and trainings at academic and industrial institutions in the MENA region. Projects related to challenges posed by Covid-19 will also be considered. Finalists will be awarded US$9 thousand. Only applications from Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Tunisia, and Turkey will be accepted. The application deadline is 30 June 2020. Link

ENI CBC Med — Call for Capitalization Projects

The Mediterranean Sea Basin Program is a cross-border cooperation initiative implemented by the EU and neighboring coastal territories. The ENI CBC Med finances cooperation projects with focus on biodiversity conservation, climate change, and pollution for a more sustainable Mediterranean area. ENI CBC Med accepts applications for capitalization projects in the following priority areas: Water Management, Waste Treatment and Recycling, Renewable Energy, Integrated Coastal Zone Management. The maximum EU contribution is 90% of the total eligible costs with a total maximum of €1 million per project. The deadline for the submission of project proposals is 28 July 2020. Click here

International Water Center — International Masters Scholarships (Integrated Water Management)

Australia’s International Water Center announces funding for international candidates accepted into the Master of Integrated Water Management in Australia. Two scholarships will cover full tuition and living expenses of up to AU$95,564 (Type A Scholarship), and a third will cover full tuition of up to AU$58,989 (Type B Scholarship). Applications are invited from eligible countries in Asia-Pacific; Africa; Latin America and Caribbean; the Middle East; Europe; and North America. Western Indian Ocean Marine Science Association — Innovation for Sustainability Grant

WIOMSA seeks innovative projects (demonstration and pilot projects) that address modern-day marine sustainability challenges to bridge the gap between marine research and innovation. The goal of the Innovation for Sustainability Grant program is to support the development and testing of concepts and new approaches that address and enhance the understanding of marine and coastal environmental issues. The proposals should be submitted by an institution or a consortium (government departments, research and academic institutions, NGOs, CBOs, or private companies).
