The U.S. Department of State announces funding for logistics, meetings coordination, and digital communications to support environmental cooperation between all the U.S. Free Trade Agreement countries. Funding of up to US$197 thousand will be awarded to be used for logistics and meeting coordination support for in-person and virtual meetings, as well as digital communications to promote environmental cooperation programs. ENI CBC Med — Call for Capitalization Projects
The Mediterranean Sea Basin Program is a cross-border cooperation initiative implemented by the EU and neighboring coastal territories. The ENI CBC Med finances cooperation projects with focus on biodiversity conservation, climate change, and pollution for a more sustainable Mediterranean area. ENI CBC Med accepts applications for capitalization projects in the following priority areas: Water Management, Waste Treatment and Recycling, Renewable Energy, Integrated Coastal Zone Management. The European Commission (EC) aims to strengthen and stimulate the dialogue between civil society organizations in the EU and the ASEAN region in areas of global health, environment challenges, sustainable growth, and fundamental rights. The EC provides financial assistance to local projects and think tanks that mitigate the negative impacts on public health (air, water and soil pollution), research zoonotic diseases, and rethink urban living spaces, among other priorities detailed in the call for proposals. StartupXs launches the COVID-19 Response Fund for start-ups and social enterprises with the aim to support early-stage social entrepreneurs to adapt to the pandemic. Support extends to social entrepreneurs whose projects focus on natural resources as well as other categories of the Terra Viva Grants Directory. ASSEMBLE Plus — Access to Marine Research Facilities
ASSEMBLE Plus provides access to marine biological research institutions across Europe and overseas to carry out scientific research in the field of marine biological sciences. Scientists from academia, industry and policy can apply for funding to use these facilities to carry out research projects. ASSEMBLE Plus sponsors teams of up to two researchers. The program covers travel (one round trip per person), meals, accommodation, and shipping costs of project materials. West African Science Service Center on Climate Change and Adapted Land Use — Master’s Program Climate Change & Marine Sciences
With funding provided by Germany, WASCAL engages in research to help tackle the severe challenges posed by climate change, focusing on West Africa. The WASCAL Graduate Studies Program offers full scholarships to support four master’s and six doctoral programs implemented at ten universities in West African countries. WASCAL’s member countries are Benin, Burkina Faso, Côte d’Ivoire, Gambia, Ghana, Niger, Mali, Nigeria, Senegal, and Togo. Doctoral students may spend up to six months at a host institution in Germany. Graduate students have access to the WASCAL research facilities located in various watersheds of West Africa. The National Geographic Society (NatGeo) seeks projects that will document underrepresented communities that have traditionally been given less consideration in stories of the environmental movement. The National Geographic Society accepts applications from less experienced individuals who seek to lead a project. Applicants are not required to have an advanced degree and should submit their proposal at least four months before the project start date.
