Bayer Foundation — Women Empowerment Award

The Bayer Foundation Women Empowerment Award (WEA) recognizes women pioneering in health, nutrition, and related climate-smart solutions. Fifteen female entrepreneurs will get the chance to join the 6-month Accelerator Program and receive €25 thousand in support of their business. To qualify, applicants must center their solutions around health or food security related challenges. The award seeks to support women entrepreneurs driving impactful solutions in the Asia Pacific region, Latin America, Africa, and the Middle East. The application deadline is 18 February 2025. Ashoka — Supporting Small Business Ecosystems

The Power of Local Challenge by Ashoka and Prudential supports initiatives that strengthen small business ecosystems in Latin America and East Africa. Eleven winners will receive up to US$60 thousand in prizes for projects enhancing collaboration, mentorship, and access to capital. Eligibility extends to small businesses and entrepreneurs from Botswana, Brazil, Burundi, Cameroon, Ethiopia, Ghana, Indonesia, Kenya, Liberia, Mexico, Namibia, Nigeria, Rwanda, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, and Zimbabwe. 100,000 Strong in the Americas — Climate Grant Competition for Colombia

The 100,000 Strong in the Americas Innovation Fund, Alliance for Climate Action (100K CLIMA) competition invites higher education institutions from the United States and Colombia to create partnerships to submit proposals for consideration. The 100K CLIMA competition intends to award 10 grants of up to US$50 thousand each. The purpose of the competition is to provide funding to support innovative partnerships between HEIs that will result in inclusive, climate-focused, student/faculty exchange and training programs. Cultural Survival — Indigenous Community Media Fund

The Indigenous Community Media Fund provides opportunities for Indigenous community radio stations and media outlets to strengthen their broadcast infrastructure and systems.  Indigenous community radio stations can apply for a grant of up to US$8 thousand. Radio networks represented by at least three or more Indigenous radio stations can apply for funding of up to US$12 thousand. Proposed projects must be completed within a period of 6 to 10 months. Indigenous communities in Latin America, the Caribbean, Africa, India, Philippines, Indonesia, Nepal, Bangladesh, Vietnam, Malaysia, Thailand are eligible to apply. Earth Journalism Network — Media Grants Amazon

The Earth Journalism Network (EJN) organizational grants to media outlets, NGOs, academic institutions, and other interested groups to support media and journalism activities related to environmental crimes in the Amazon Region in Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru. Interested applicants should propose activities for the training of Amazonian journalists and communicators and for supporting the production of journalistic reports on environmental crimes. EJN expects to award grants of US$5,000 to US$10 thousand. Media organizations, networks of journalists and/or communicators, universities, and journalistic institutions focusing on environmental crimes reporting in the Amazon region are invited to apply. U.S. National Science Foundation — Biodiversity on a Changing Planet

The U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF) invites submission of interdisciplinary proposals addressing grand challenges in biodiversity science within the context of unprecedented environmental change, including climate change. The program supports a comprehensive and integrative approach to understanding planetary biodiversity from a functional perspective. Research supported by this program will improve modeling and forecasting of the consequences of functional change in biodiversity. The program supports both US-only collaborative proposals and proposals with international partnerships with National Science Foundations in China, Brazil, and South Africa. Proposals may be submitted by non-profit organizations and institutions of higher education. The total anticipated funding amount is up to US$17 million. Depending on the quality of proposals, 4-6 awards are estimated to be made for design and implementation. Applications have to be submitted by 04 September 2025. Link

Commonwealth Scholarship Commission — Commonwealth Split-site Scholarships

The Commonwealth Split-site Scholarships enable talented and motivated individuals to gain the knowledge and skills required for sustainable development, and are aimed at students from low- and middle-income countries who could not otherwise afford to study in the UK. Awards are tenable for 12 months of study at any approved UK university or higher education institution for a specific program of research. All applications must be submitted by 16 December 2024. Climate Investment Funds — Youth Fellowship

The Climate Investment Funds (CIF) supports young climate professionals with a career-focused fellowship program. The CIF Youth Fellowship is a professional capacity-building program focused on providing hands-on experience to young leaders in global climate action. CIF Youth Fellows will work with Multilateral Development Banks on real-world projects in areas related to nature-based solutions, clean energy, adaptation and climate resilience, energy access, and gender and social inclusion. Candidates must be between 18 and 28 years old and reside in Brazil, Ghana, India, Papua New Guinea, or Turkey. The application deadline is 18 December 2024. CIF Youth Fellowship

Climate & Care Initiative — Climate Fund

The Climate & Care Initiative seeks innovative practices that connect climate and care to promote equitable and sustainable development and a just transition. The fund supports those at the forefront of climate and care work to help organizations and initiatives develop evidence on the importance of integrating these critical areas. The Climate & Care Initiative provides up to US$50 thousand per project for innovative practices in Latin America, the Caribbean, and Sub-Saharan Africa. Association of Commonwealth Universities — Climate Resilience Challenge Grants

The Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU) awards Climate Resilience Challenge Grants to member universities to support initiatives addressing climate resilience. The grants can be used for a diverse range of projects, workshops, and events. Four grants of up to £2,500 each are available for ACU member universities to help meet the costs of organizing climate resilience projects.
