The L’Oréal-UNESCO For Women in Science program supports the involvement of young women in scientific research. This program rewards young female researchers in life and environmental sciences, material sciences, mathematics, computer and information sciences, engineering sciences, and technology. Researchers will receive $15 thousand to support their doctoral or postdoctoral research studies. The Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship Program supports non-degree academic study and related professional experiences in the U.S. for experienced professionals from Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Dominica, Grenada, St. Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, and St. Vincent and the Grenadines. Fellows are hosted at universities in the USA. Program fields include agriculture and rural development; natural resources, environmental policy, climate change; and many others. Scotiabank — Decarbonization Research
Scotiabank’s Net-Zero Research Fund (NZRF) supports registered charities and non-profit organizations conducting research to advance global decarbonization efforts. Funded projects have addressed topics such as carbon footprint reduction in artisanal mining, carbon capture through native species in the Amazon, and real-time data platforms for solar energy performance. Global Biodiversity Information Facility — Biodiversity Information for Development: LAC
The Biodiversity Information for Development program aims to enhance capacity for effective mobilization and use of biodiversity data in support of decision- and policymaking for sustainable development in Latin America and the Caribbean. GBIF offers support for two types of projects: (1) Institutional-level biodiversity data mobilization grants (maximum funding: €30 thousand for strengthening institutional capacity and mobilize policy-relevant biodiversity data); (2) Multi-institutional biodiversity data mobilization grants (maximum funding: €60 thousand to strengthen collaborations between institutions. Applicants must be legal entities such as research institutions, universities, museums, non-governmental organizations or government agencies located in Caribbean or Latin American countries. IUCN — Biodiversity Conservation
BESTLIFE2030 provides grant funding for small-scale field actions for biodiversity conservation and sustainable development in the EU’s Outermost Regions and associated Overseas Countries and Territories. The program provides support at both local and regional levels for the conservation of biodiversity and the sustainable use of ecosystem services, including for climate adaptation. Grants are a maximum of €100 thousand per recipient for projects ranging between 18 to 36 months. In order to be eligible the lead applicant must be a private or public legal entity and be located in one of the priority regions (Amazonia, the French Caribbean, the Indian Ocean and North Atlantic’s Saint Pierre and Miquelon). Canada Fund for Local Initiatives — Community Projects in Jamaica
The Canada Fund for Local Initiatives (CFLI) invites proposals that meet the needs of local communities in Jamaica. CFLI provides funding to projects that create income-earning opportunities for women (which may also include rural agricultural development), as well as environment, and climate action focusing on adaptation and mitigation. The average contribution is C$10 thousand to C$25 thousand per project. Eligibility extends to not-for-profit local, national, or community-based organizations. U.S. Department of State — Professional Fellows Program for Latin America and the Caribbean
The U.S. Department of State invites proposal submissions for the Young Leaders of the Americas (YLAI) Fellowship Program. The global exchange program will support approx. 250 social entrepreneurs from Latin America and the Caribbean in a five to four-week Fellowship program, including entrepreneurial training and workshops. Association of Commonwealth Universities — Higher Education and SDGs Grants
The Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU) accepts applications for the Higher Education and the SDGs Challenge Grants to fund collaborative work around the sustainable development goals (SDGs). The grants are open to professional and academic staff at ACU member universities. Four grants of £2,500 are available.
