The Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) Indigenous Fellowship Training Programme is open for applications. The call is open only to the indigenous peoples of Brazil, with the aim of later opening the same opportunity to other Portuguese-speaking countries. The aim of the program is to give indigenous persons the opportunity to gain knowledge on the UN system and mechanisms dealing with human rights issues in general and indigenous issues in particular. (Note: This may include land rights and biodiversity conservation issues). Participants will learn how to more effectively advocate for the rights of their communities and raise their concerns at the international level. Earth Journalism Network — Mekong Video Storytelling Fellowship
The Earth Journalism Network (EJN) aims to train content producers from the Lower Mekong countries to tell impactful visual stories about natural resources governance. EJN will select 25 fellows from the Lower Mekong countries for online and in-person training. Following the training, participants will be invited to pitch video story ideas that examine the challenges in Mekong natural resource management and their impacts on local communities and natural habitats. EJN will award the best story ideas with grants of US$ 2,500 each to produce a video. The fellowship is open to applicants from Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam. Prince Claus Fund — Cultural and Artistic responses to Environmental Change
The Prince Claus Fund and the Goethe-Institut support artistic and cultural interventions tackling pressing environmental and climate issues around the world. The Fund invites applications to its mentorship program which will focus on addressing the climate emergency. The program consists of two Labs, bi-monthly online masterclass and peer-group sessions. Each artist receives an award of €10 thousand to work on the concept for a body of work that they outline in their application. Schneider Electric seeks applications for the Go Green global student competition in Europe (including Eastern Europe, Eurasia and Central Asia). Students are invited to submit solutions to real-life case challenges within energy management or ideas for sustainable energy access. Top teams will be invited to attend the Virtual Global Finals to pitch their ideas. In addition, one all-female team from the semi-finals will win the Women in Business Award. U.S. Department of State — Congo Basin Conclave
The U.S. Embassy in Kinshasa announces an open competition for organizations to submit applications to organize a regional conclave bringing together stakeholders working to preserve the Congo Basin. Phase one of the project will start with country-specific sessions for U.S. government selected participants. During phase two of the project, a maximum of 50 participants from the five country specific sessions will gather in Kinshasa for a 1-2 day Congo Basin Conclave. The Conclave will provide a forum that enables experts to network across borders. Finally, participants will conceive and propose projects for U.S. government funding that invest in the people of the Congo Basin. Awards to organize the conclave may range from US$200 thousand to US$250 thousand. Eligibility to apply extends to non-profit organizations, individuals, non-profit educational institutions and governmental institutions from s from the U.S. and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. As part of its program of official development assistance, the Slovak Republic annually awards scholarships to support qualified international students for studies at Slovak universities. The fields of study include ecological and environmental sciences; agriculture, forestry, and veterinary medicine; water resources management; and several others. Eligible countries for scholarships are Afghanistan, Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Kenya, Kosovo, Moldova, Mongolia, Palestinian Territories, Ukraine, and Vietnam. Halcyon — Food & Agtech in Africa
Halcyon supports African entrepreneurs with innovative solutions that can improve the livelihoods of farmers while increasing access to quality food for the most vulnerable. The Food & Agtech Fellowship will be delivered in a hybrid modality, with three virtual meetings, a one week in-person residency at Halcyon and a one week in-person residency in Nairobi. Participants receive US$5 thousand per venture equity-free stipend to use toward travel expenses to attend the residencies, a one week long residency at Halcyon’s facilities in Washington, DC (USA), and a one week long residency in Nairobi (Kenya). YALI Regional Leadership Center — West Africa Emerging Leaders Program
The YALI West Africa Emerging Leaders Program provides business and entrepreneurship training to young West African leaders from Ghana, Nigeria, Togo, Ivory Coast, Cameroon, Liberia, Sierra Leone, Gambia and Burkina Faso. The program will teach young leaders (between 18 to 35 years) about modern leadership through coursework (in-person or online), a mentorship program, internship or community service, and report writing.
