The Asia Research Institute (ARI) invites applications from citizens of Asian countries for the Asian Graduate Student Fellowship. This opportunity includes a virtual fellowship and an in-person fellowship. Selected participants will undergo an intensive six-week program of independent research, training in academic writing, and mentorship meetings. Participants will take part in an intensive course on English academic writing. The fellowship program is open to junior scholars in the humanities and social sciences undertaking research focused on Southeast Asia. Earth Journalism Network (EJN) offers reporting grants to journalists from Morocco interested in developing in-depth stories exposing the scale of unsustainable marine management and biodiversity loss in the Mediterranean Sea. ENJ expects to make 5 awards of €500 each. Applicants can be from all countries that border the Mediterranean Sea. Applicants must be based in Morocco. Wild Animal Initiative — Fellowship Program
Wild Animal Initiative invites early-career scientists to apply to a fellowship program. Fellowships are offered to individuals to conduct wild animal welfare research that is explicitly focused on combining animal welfare and the study of wild animals. Wild Animal Initiative offers a stipend of up to US$60 thousand per year for salary and living expenses. Eligible candidates can request an additional allowance of up to US$25 thousand per year for field work, consumables and other research related costs. German Federal Environmental Foundation — PhD Fellowships
The German Federal Environmental Foundation (DBU) offers 60 research fellowships per year to young scientists in Germany and internationally across all disciplines of environmental protection. The funding period is 36 months with a monthly stipend of €1,500. DBU welcomes subjects of international importance, although the work has to be done mainly in Germany, and with a clear reference to the German environmental situation. Earth Journalism Network — Reporting Grants Blue Economy in Belize
The Earth Journalism Network (EJN) offers reporting grants to journalists in Belize, to support the production of in-depth stories on the protection, conservation and management of reef health. Stories should raise awareness about the sustainable use of ocean resources for economic growth in Belize, and initiatives to improve livelihoods and jobs while preserving the health of the ocean ecosystem. U.S. National Marine Fisheries Service — Marine Turtle Management and Conservation Program Pacific Islands
The International Marine Turtle Management and Conservation Program supports conservation, protection, or management actions supporting recovery of endangered sea turtle species occurring within the Pacific Islands Region. The program funds internationally-based projects to protect conserve western Pacific leatherback sea turtles occurring in Indonesia and Solomon Islands, and sea turtle management and conservation projects within Southeast Asia (Vietnam, Philippines, or Indonesia) and Japan with focus on fishery bycatch, nesting beach monitoring, poaching reduction, and/or the illegal sea turtle wildlife trade. Proposals between US$10 thousand and US$100 thousand per project year will be funded. Projects may apply for up to three years in length. Eligible applicants are institutions of higher education, nonprofits, commercial organizations, foreign institutions, foreign organizations, and governments. The Letten Prize is an international prize for young researchers (under the age of 45) that conduct research aimed at addressing global challenges within the fields of health, development, environment and equality in all aspects of human life. World Academy of Sciences — Postdoctoral Fellowships for Early-Career Researchers
In partnership with the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB), TWAS invites early-career researchers from 21 Least Developed Member Countries to apply to the IsDB-TWAS Postdoctoral Fellowship Program. The fellowship will support research related to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, providing recipients with high-level training in areas relevant to sustainability science. The Penn Development Research Initiative (DevLab at the University of Pennsylvania) seeks to build capacity for rigorous research on pressing policy challenges facing low- and middle-income countries, by providing training and research opportunities for emerging researchers. The university invites researchers from Sub-Saharan Africa to apply for a semester-long fellowship for the 2023 Fall semester (September – December 2023).
