Trust for Sustainable Living — International Schools Essay Competition
Every year, the essay competition focuses on a different global sustainability challenge. This year’s theme is Nature-based Solutions. Participating students are invited to submit one essay (in English) entitled “How can nature help us achieve the UN SDGs in my community?”. The Grand Prize trophy winner will receive a free international trip to a TSL Summit, including £1000 spending money. Schools have to register a Teacher Champion to participate in the competition. iF International Forum Design GmbH — Student Design Award
The iF Student Design Award recognizes students and their future-oriented concepts that aim to solve a global development challenge. The best concepts earn a share of €50 thousand. All winners will be honored with a two-day event in Istanbul. Students and recent graduates of all design-related courses and programs are welcome to register their concepts. Pulitzer Center — Rainforest Journalism Fund
The Pulitzer Center invites proposals for grants to journalists to support reporting on tropical rainforests in the Amazon Basin, Congo Basin, and Southeast Asia. The supported journalism projects will focus on the tropical forests’ role in the overall climate equation and weather patterns, deforestation drivers, and solutions to halt deforestation. The Pulitzer Center will fund costs associated with reporting projects on tropical rainforests in the range of US$2,500 to US$7,500. Grants are made to local journalists based in the tropical rainforest region. In addition, the Pulitzer Center makes grants to journalists reporting for major American and European news outlets on tropical rainforests in any part of the world. Partnership for Forests — Innovative Partnerships in Forestry
Partnership for Forests promotes partnerships among governments, civil society, and private enterprises to address deforestation and improve livelihoods by investing in forests and sustainable land use in Sub-Saharan Africa, Latin America, and Southeast Asia. The program provides a combination of grants and technical assistance to help selected partnerships move towards commercial scale-up. Grants normally range from £10 thousand to £1 million. Applicants should provide matched funding of at least 25%. Applications are welcome from private companies, cooperatives and trade associations, civil society and community-based organizations, NGOs, and research institutes. There is no deadline. SEED — Replicator Workshop for Eco-Enterprises
The SEED Replicator program offers incubation workshops to identify opportunities for enterprise creation and to guide aspiring entrepreneurs and business owners looking for partnerships to build an eco-inclusive business model. Successful alumni can apply for a SEED Grant which pays for your immediate necessary activities, measures or machinery required to establish the new enterprise. SEED Replicator Program currently invites applications from entrepreneurs in South Africa. Participation is free, although participants need to cover their transportation costs and accommodation. Smithsonian Institution — Fellowship Program 2024
The Smithsonian Institution annually awards fellowships for independent study or research at one or more of the Smithsonian’s 19 units and research centers, including the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute (STRI). The awards include: graduate student fellowships; predoctoral fellowships; postdoctoral fellowships; and senior fellowships. Stipends and allowances vary from US$8 thousand for two weeks to up to US$55 thousand per year, depending on the applicant’s experience. The fellowship program is open to qualified applicants worldwide. Yale Young Global Scholars (YYGS) offers two-week academic summer programs for high school students from all around the world. The program offers four interdisciplinary sessions on campus at Yale (USA), including sessions on Innovations in Science & Technology and Solving Global Challenges. YYGS offers the opportunity for students to apply for need-based financial aid.
